I notice how late you posted that. Did you have trouble activating as well? I was just upgrading my firmware and it buggered up?

What Apps you stuck on it so far?

On and did you get 8 or 16gb? And what colour and I knew you'd love it. Just wait till your mates find out it can't do MMS and only has a 2MP camera and no flash and no video recording. Then you'll have fun!

We must think the same thing. I only use my phone to send texts and ring people. If I want to take pictures I'd use my camera. If I wanted to go on the internet I'd use my computer.

I mostly text. 'phoning = £0.40 p / minute via Vodaphone, so I let people ring me (!!).

I'm sticking with my Nokia N95. It does everything I need it to, plus a whole load of things I don't need it to do. The iPhone's good, much better than I expected actually, but I have no need to change currently. Plus I've been with Orange for a number of years and have had the same number in that time too. I'd hate to change it, and doing the PAC thing is annoying (my number originally came from Vodafone so I know what a pain it is to port!)

I know what you mean Munki. I have been with T Mobile for years and I'll not leave them they have been absolutely brilliant. Oh and Flext is the best contract out there.

You don't need MMS when you've got email. That's the point of MMS. And Cameras on phones have never been great. At best you use them for cheap fun shots. In which case 2MP is more than enough and all the lovely pics of the dogs you lot have seen were taken on iPhone so it's fine.

What a load of junk. If I want to send a picture to someone who is away from their email (and have them see it), should I wait until they are back at home/work just because their "inferior" phone supports something that the superior Apple device doesn't?

Andy B wrote:At best you use them for cheap fun shots. In which case 2MP is more than enough

No, I use mine for taking perfectly acceptable photos on the move which, when printed, look pretty good. But then my device is a 5MP unit. Oh, and about a quarter of the size of an iPhone.

That said, my iPod Touch is amazing :)

But the quality of an MMS is way inferior to the picture taken on your phone anyway. A LOT of phones supper email these days and the quality doesn't get reduced. As I've already said 2MP is more than adequate for my needs.

Also I can't imagine any photo that somone would NEED to see only a few seconds after you took it.

Hehe Touch! You've got to PAY a few quid for the upgrade whereas Foots and I only have to pay £500 for 12 months use. Oh wait that's not as good is it. Damn!

Why?

Why?

Andy B wrote:I notice how late you posted that. Did you have trouble activating as well? I was just upgrading my firmware and it buggered up?

I couldn't download iTunes earlier to activate it but we got there later. Once iTunes was downloaded, there was no trouble.

Andy B wrote:What Apps you stuck on it so far?

None so far, been busy so not faffed about much with it. Anything you would recommend? Plus, is it worthwhile getting it unlocked? What does that let me do?

Andy B wrote:On and did you get 8 or 16gb? And what colour and I knew you'd love it. Just wait till your mates find out it can't do MMS and only has a 2MP camera and no flash and no video recording. Then you'll have fun!

I went for the 8gb since they had sold out of the 16gb version. I currently have a 1gb memory card in my old phone and I use about half of that so I doubt I will fill 8gb let alone 16.

I rarely send mms messages, none of my phones so far have had a flash and the video recording is always guff anyways. I knew about that before I got it and it did little in swaying me away from it.

TIAL wrote:We must think the same thing. I only use my phone to send texts and ring people. If I want to take pictures I'd use my camera. If I wanted to go on the internet I'd use my computer.

I've said several times before that everyone uses their phone it totally different ways - some folk only send texts, others listen to music, others take loads of photos. Therefore, there is no such thing as the perfect phone - different folk will have needs for different features. I use the internet a fair bit on my old phone so this new thing should improve that somewhat.

Andy B wrote:Foots and I only have to pay £500 for 12 months use. Oh wait that's not as good is it. Damn!

Where are you getting that from? I think I am saving myself about a fiver a month by switching to their contract with the internet included! I'm certainly not paying £500!

Yudster wrote:Depends - if he has a new number to go with the new iPhone, then no!

£30 month minimum x 18 months = £540.

As for getting in unlocked. It's up to you if you think you can find a better deal out there. I know there are a lot of packages that will give you more minutes and texts but the thing that swings it for me is the unlimited data useage.....That's none to shabby. Otherwise, unlocking it allowed people to put things on there that weren't on there in the first place but with the App Store that all seems a bit pointless now.

for LOADS more info and random questions about the iPhone I visit www.iLounge.com quite a bit...Lots of news and reviews and a forum for silly iPhone questions....thanks to that place I found out that the mic on the hands free kit has a clicker in it, to answer and end calls and pause songs etc...Also click it twice and it skips to the next track.

took me 3 months to figure that out!
