I think the main problem is I don't have any references as I never had a job before so can only put someone from college down which isn't really what they want.

That sucks. Although at the end of the day, we all had to start out somewhere! I guess it just takes someone to push the boat out and, pardon the expression, give you a go. I guess the companies you're going for are all too scared which is rubbish. Just keep at it! I'd also try having a look in your local rag or the Friday ad as the jobs there are usually done by companies who might not be able to afford agencies which means they're generally more broad and/or relaxed with who they take on.

I suck at trying to get a job. Loads of applications, few interviews as Topher said. Then when you get the interview, something I'm not particularly good at, you try and convince them you're better than the others. I have trouble convincing myself of that, let alone others. Bottom line, I've only had three jobs. One was working for my dad, one was working part time at the University I was at (where basically if you volunteered you got the two hours a week job - it looks good on my CV) and the one I currently have I got because I play five-a-side football with the boss.

Therefore proving that, at least it my case, it's not what you know but who you know. And I have heard that phrase so many times I'm fairly certain not only am I not the only one who that applies to, but that it applies to the majority.

Oh, and annoying me today is the news that another person at my work has handed in their notice. In the last 12 months we have lost far too many people that I like working with.

Also (I meant to put this but forgot, apologies for the double post), I would say most employers don't bother contacting unsuccessful applicants; it's only a minority who do. Oh, and the other thing is that they may take a week or two to go through the applications, so you won't hear back straight away.

Haha, I'm forgetful as well.. my long-term memory is fine, but my short-term memory is complete shite. I haven't got a condition though, I'm just forgetful and my balance is shit, which makes me clumsy.

I'm like that too. I can remember loads of things when I was young or a couple of months ago (it's aces when you're having an argument) where as I sometimes can't remember simple things like whether I've locked my car or even flushed the loo. But I put that down to the fact that it's an automatic motion that doesn't need to get remembered by your brain. But still - it's quite frustrating when you're downstairs and all of sudden you think "Have I flushed the loo?" and you have to walk back upstairs again to check.

If your balance is pants, I'd check that out. My mum's girlfriend is deaf in one ear which * her balance up.

Yeah, I can remember certain things from when I was about three - I know I was three because my earliest memories are of my Grandmother and she died when I was three. I'm extremely grateful for those (albeit vague) memories.

Aww, that's really nice. Hold on to them. Memory is a funny thing. I can always remember random things like when I fell over or when my sister did something. I think it's so I can use it as evidence later in life. I can also remember what my dad looks like but for some reason I can't for the life of me remember what he sounds like.

Yep! Talk about keeping it in the family! I believe she's been gay since the age of 14 but she wanted kids and at that time, the turkey baster thing wasn't very well known, especially where I lived, so decided to have them with her best friend (my dad).

I only ask because I'm really not looking forward to my last days, highly embarassing, highly humiliating leaving speech at 2pm.

Although with that in mind, my lovely friends at work did decorate my desk with a ton of balloons, "good luck balloons" and confetti which is nice.
