Do you think cinemas are over-priced?

Or do you think it's worth splashing out for a nice evening at the movies? :-)

Why is it overpriced? because they charge too much money.

Yes, they charge too much money, but surely every so often, it's gonna be worth it for some big screen action. And an evening out.

Massively overpriced. It's £6.50 at out local cinema for an adult - that's for one viewing, of a single film, in a room filled with people talking and grazing on popcorn and slurping huge tubs of cola. A DVD, which you can pause, rewind, watch where and when you want (without having to put up with other annoying people) usually costs about £10.00 now-a-days.

Grazing on popcorn!! That made me honk with laughter. I'm one of them. :-)

Our cinema = £6.50 too, but before 5 p.m. the price = £5.50 .... I still say it's worth it every so often, because you can't that big a screen to look at whilst watching a DVD! Plus, the entire cinema atmosphere is fantastic, I think. :-)

The price of the cinema ticket, I can live with. Usually we only go and see family films, and a family ticket at my local cinema costs £14. £3.50 each is a great deal, and often we have the place to ourselves. The real rip-off is the price of popcorn, drinks etc. We get round that by smuggling ours in though.

While a bigger screen might be better, you are sitting further away from it. Sitting closer to a smaller screen gives the same effect.

Its 7 quid at our showcase, and by the time you've bought a drink and popcorn you've doubled that. The Vue in Bristol has a Ben and Gerry's ice cream counter, you can't get a tub of Ice cream with much change out of a fiver there.

Cinemas always have the soundtrack on too loud. The places give me a headache.

Eh?? Can't say I've noticed that. That would just give me sore eyes.

Are you saying that doing that has given you sore eyes, or are you saying that you think it would give you sore eyes? If it's the latter, then that should only really occur on a CRT TV, and even with that it should take more than a two hour film to cause any eye strain.

The Quote Vendetta has re-commenced.

Sitting too close to a TV has given me sore eyes, but then I'm supposed to wear glasses.
