I have to disagree there, given the choice I'd rather listen to Russel Brand, Chris Evans, Zane Lowe, Jonathan Ross and probably Maconie and Radcliffe ahead of Moyles nowadays.

Controversial, perhaps... and maybe I'm showing my age. But tis the truth and no mistaking.

Whoa whoa whoa. Let's keep age out of this, Baggy! Your view is the result of personal preference...and maybe a blow to the head...?

Is it Matt's fault?
Chris is really going to need some cheering up over this one. I'm still listening daily from California. I second the idea that maybe the poll was taken when Scott Mills was filling in for two weeks? Vacations have to be scheduled away from poll taking time.

I'm gonna say it is. He's got an annoying voice, plus is there any need for another onair regular as rubbish as he is? :P

But I think it's the case that the high listener figure has gone to Chris' head, and he no longer felt the need to put the effort in nowadays. I don't believe the show is as good as it was last year, it's just the same thing over and over again every morning. The last thing anyone needs is someone belching while they're having their breakfast. It's the littlest things that might be the cause of it.

Or just blame the credit crunch, seems to be the excuse used by everyone nowadays! :D

Rachel is probably one of my favourites, you need someone with a sensible and positive head to keep that lot at bay sometimes.

i don't agree, i think that he's been a little restricted due to banning of competitions, it must be very difficult to make 17 and half hours of new original radio week in week out (Mills hasn't managed this for years) some of the funniest moments were rubbish competitions that R1 ran which he ripped and were relly funny , as for the belching he's always done that, and its stuff like that, that sets him apart.

Its all Scott Mills fault!

Dont let anyone kid you?

How many people didnt listen to the breakfast show the whole time Chris and the team where off

Has anyone seen the full page article about Moyles losing listeners, they have taken it with a pinch of salt, but people off the DS forums are saying it is the end of the world for Moyles, total balls, maybe it is time to bring up an old feature or a new member of the on air team etc, but if mills comes to do breakfast, byebye me, i wont be listening for sure.

but by the way the rajar results are compiled 6 to 8 weeks before hand so the results which were published yesterday were collated 6 to 8 weeks ago! x

Oh for god sake its not Scott Mills fault. It's an average of the three months and did anyone not stop to think that when Scott takes over and people who listen to Moyles leave, people who regualrly listen to Scott who don't normally listen to Moyles listen? Granted it won't be as many but you cannot blame Scott Mills. Radio 1 audiences have gone down, Wogan has gone down and its one quarter. No need to worry. If they go down again for the next two times, then worry.

I personally think the last 4-6 months have been a real return to form for Moyles!

A lack of competitions is really hard as it seperates the audience from the team.

My only suggestion would be that Dave steps up a little. The banter between Chris and Dave has always for me been the heart of the show. Much as I appreciate Dom, I would like to hear more from Mr Vitty!

Getting listeners back is quite tough, but I believe the drop is more to do with natural fluctuations than anything particularly lacking in the format!

The Alfie household will be listening whatever!!!

Let me start by saying I AM a Moyles fan, and listen every morning....

The drop of figures will not turn too many heads due to the fact that figures are down overall....however...

Recently Moyles shows have felt a little staid, I have no problem with the small amount of music he plays - due to the fact that I spend much of his show laughing or engaged in the studio banter. Recently, however, and more frequently the links sound like they are being over stretched - and become dull. You can almost hear Moyles thinking, I should really play a song now and change tack, but he doesn't....also there have been no new features of any note for some time. I wouldn't say its due to the lack of competitions (remember things such as girls going to football on saturday mornings - which did not rely on a competition format) I think its just a combination of being on air for a long time, and perhaps some complacency.

TFI Friday began to feel stale towards the end of its run, as did the Big Breakfast (TV Vs Radio I know not the best comparisons) but I feel that Moyles could do with bringing some new ideas to the show. As for Matt (rubbish on air) Fincham, I don't think he's to blame for 500,000 going on their way.

If a link is become directionless and repetative play a song (or two) to give yourself an excuse to change the subject matter!!! I know Moyles has had a "management run in" over playing music, but all I'm saying is recently - on occasion - its sounded like the banter is becoming forced and a record interspersed slightly more often would help the quality of the "team" output.

I used to listen every day to Chris and loved the show, the non stop chit chat began to really annoy me and found driving to work I could leave the house and an hour later pulled up at wortk and hadnt heard a single record. Morning radio should be a good balance of chat and music and i think Chris is sufferring from losing the balance.
I really struggle listening to Dom! He realy winds me up, why have a news reader chipping in every two minutes. Listen to your audience Chris they are trying to tell you something you need to get back to what works not what you think works. \\\\\\i tune back in to radio 1 only when scott mills covers for Chris, great music, v funny and minimum people-great!!
I challenge you Chris get me back listening!!!

Even though Chris' figures were at their height when the show followed a similar format? It's worked for so long, I'm not sure changing to the 'typical' way a radio show is said to be would work for them.

Three little words - "Get in here!" For me the source of the half million drop in listeners is obvious - that appalling rant at Aled over the pizzas. I know I turned off after it had been going on for twenty minutes, but I turned the radio back on after a bit. I'm guessing that 500,000 people didn't tune in again.

I also love listening to Moyles and couldn't care less about the amount of music he plays with the amount of crap music on the playlist at the moment. I have to agree with you there with the no new features, the show has had nothing new or different for ages, the same stuff everyday and there hasn't been many new jingles and I think some should be updated like the cheasy song. I like the song but I think it needs to be updated except when the words are changed- this doesn't make it any better. I just think they need to bring in a few more new things which would improve the show and attract more listeners

You must have turned off after it had been going on for twenty seconds. It was curries. Not pizzas.
