Today I was sent something as a thank you for something I haven't done yet... you aren't the only ones who are confused.

Congratulations, I was tempted to do some work as a waiter a few years back but chickened out because I can't even carry a cup of tea across a room without nearly spilling some.

You have a boyfriend? I didn't know... you should mention it more often.

Well done.

How old be you, Tom? I thought you were too young to have a job.

Neither can I, but it didn't stop me trying.. I hated it though and I left before they got rid of me.

Is this the rate the restaurants are paying nowadays? I wouldn't consider that a good wage, but I guess it depends how old you are. That said, my first Saturday job paid me £1.92 an hour.

charlalottie wrote:1 day more than me. I never did hear back from the places I applied too and seeing the new people they have hired who can hardly understand what a barcode is, doesn't make me feel better about myself.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... it's completely soul destroying applying for jobs. You also have to think that politics can be involved and if someone's mate is applying, which I would say is more likely in the type of job you're likely to be going for, they're likely to get the job. Just try not to pay attention to what you don't get offered an interview for and concentrate on what you do. We go on about spelling on here, but it's imperative all your spelling and grammar is 100% accurate on a job application, otherwise, what's the image your portraying of yourself?

It's a small consumer electronics device that stores, organizes and plays audio files, usually through headphones.

It's not that bad considering at Tom's age, minimum wage is £3.40 per hour. He could be doing a lot worse.

Speaking of which, off to work I go.

Everybody starts somewhere though, but you have to try and expand on one word answers slightly.
