A word of advice, 'dbbelme'.. don't come out with statements like that unless you are prepared to back it up with evidence. And if your evidence proves otherwise (as it is highly likely to in my opinion), be prepared to be torn to shreds. It's what we do best.

Actually, I think you'll find that's impossible to do because it's subjective and there is therefore no right or wrong answer.

I meant the royal 'we'. I don't consider that you have torn him/her to shreds anyway.

Well - enjoyment of a voice is subjective, but the technical aspects of whether it is any good or not can be objectively analysed. If you want to take this further, I'd be happy to do the analysis - I've been a vocal coach and session singer for many years, and I know what I'm listening to.

Hmmm. You know that saying - "those that can, do - those that can't, teach"? Technically I have a good voice. I have excellent pitch, good vocal production, breath control, all that - but I'll never have a great voice. In professional terms, it's adequate, but it will never be more. I can teach though.

Ahh this reminds me of my weekend out on the town we went into a Karaoke bar, oh what fun, I did David Bowie 'Lets Dance' first time round and apprently I did ok with that, then I did a duet with a mate the next time round singing 'Common People' by Pulp and aboslutely MURDERED it. I'd never been brave enough to take the mic til now, mind you, I'd never been drunk enough.

Karaoke is a good way to ruin any vocal reputation you might ever have! Fun though. Mr Yudster got very drunk once and won a significant amount of money by performing "Ebeneezer Goode" in a karaoke competition once. He always pretends he doesn't remember it, but he does really.

I still want to hear!

I imagine you to be the female equivalent of Tony Angelino... mind you, I can't mock, I'm a terrible singer.

I surprised the crap out of my family when I got up and did Mac The Knife a few months ago. When I was finished I got the same reaction from them all...

"I didn't know you could sing!"

It does wonders for your confidence that! And I was driving that night, so I hadn't had anything to drink either!
