No - surely the be all and end all of the Champions League is how Liverpool have won it five times?

It was a comment on your point rather than a new one.

I don't see why the money in the Champions League makes all that much difference to the big four to be honest. Sure, they make a packet, but they make a packet by finishing in the top four of the Premiership. It's not like up here in Scotland where failure to make the Champions League can seriously wreck your turnover for the season if you're Celtic or Rangers. Plus the draw of playing in the Premiership is much higher than playing in the SPL. Ask Carlos Cuellar. The minute Rangers failed to qualify for the Champions League this season he was asking to go to the Premiership, and Rangers saw a chance to make back some of the money they had just missed out on by flogging him. Cuellar is now at Villa. Rangers have since spent some of that money strengthening their squad, but not the whole amount they got for him - it's plugging the hole. And all this from a team that played in the group stages last season then dropped into the UEFA Cup to make it all the way to the final!

But when it comes down to it, what really makes the difference for us fans isn't the money. It's the experience. Champions League nights at Celtic Park are like nothing else you'll ever experience. Seriously, players in other teams leave feeling like they've been somewhere special. Go to Celtic Park at the weekend and it's like a library at times. Well, not this weekend cos we're playing Rangers, but that's a special case. But any other weekend it's fairly quiet. Go on a Champions League night and it's fantastic. Better still, unless you're Barcelona you're not coming away with a win either - and some say part of that is down to the 12th man, the crowd.

We love going toe to toe with Europe's elite. You don't get them in Scotland, you don't get them in the UEFA Cup. You only get them in the Champions League. Ask Liverpool fans - they've won it five times after all. And they've proud of that fact, even if they have yet to win the Premiership. It more than makes up for it.

How easy it is to talk about liverpool never winning the premiership when your team only has to beat teams like st mirren and hearts to win the league

Okay, I take it back. Liverpool fans are in fact very bitter about the fact they've never won the mighty Premiership, despite having won the biggest club competition five times.

Better?

I am not bitter due to the fact football didnt start in 1993 just the premiership and i have seen my team win the league many times

What a shit match, the players didn't give a crap and neither did the manager. Even though fans are paying to watch them deliver and even though they know parents will be taking alot more of their kids along to this match, they couldn't give a flying *. They were a laughing stock and it was a absolute insult to their supporting fans seeing the players care so little about putting in effort to get a decent result.

It doesn't matter if they are playing a shit team or if it is the premiership or even if the match was won before it even started, when you have twenty five thousand fans paying money to see you play you should do your * best to put on a * show.

What did you expect? You were 4-1 up after the first leg, big(ish) game this weekend, of course the players weren't going to be overly arsed. It's about getting through, after all. If you want to see a "* show", go to the theatre.

Liverpool Football Club have today confirmed that the building of their new stadium will be subject to delay.
A spokesman for the club said: "Our commitment to building a new world class LFC stadium is undiminished. Like many other major development projects in the UK and overseas we are affected by global market conditions and as such work on the project will be delayed in the short term. We will use this period productively and revisit the plans for the stadium to increase its capacity to 73,000 seats."

Now you may understand why liverpool are getting fed up with the owners

We are through, yes and we have got Liverpool on Sunday which i understand is massive because Liverpool haven't been playing their best recently (we still won't beat them though I don't think.) I just thought it was terrible to see them care so little because they had already won, three kids sat near me and they were asleep, it is a complete waste of money.

Important lesson for the kids then, sometimes football's rubbish :D

As for the weekend, oddly I'm thinking Gerrard's absence might mean we don't get hammered on Sunday. Fortunately I'm running round the streets of Wembley so I'll miss it.

Oh yes, I do get that, totally understandable - but how is it the reason the team are playing like they are?

To be honest i never worry about how we play in the first 6 games of the season until everyone settles into the club and gets match fit
