Essex FM banned James Blunt from their playlist - listeners were tired of hearing, "You're beautiful", etc.

If you had to pick a song to ban on the current list, which one would you choose?

Have they actually banned it or have they taken it off their playlist, the two things are very different. I think you need a better reason that "we're fed up of hearing it" to ban something form a playlist

I have a friend who also works for GCap Media and I have just spoken to him, they have just taken it off the playlist and the joke is that it's banned. It's not really banned, it's just a figure of speech.

I'd ban The Kooks, The Pigeon Detectives, Razorlight and Scouting For Girls and that's just for starters. In fact I think what I'm envisaging here is an entire playlist revamp really. i couldn't stop at just one song.

At last, a sensible reply: right, I'd ban the Kooks too. I'd also ban that dire band Glasvegas (*viv waits for people to pounce*). Their cover of Amy Winehouse yesterday was dire. Absolutely died on its feet.

It made me laugh this thread as about a year ago Essex FM did a similar thing regarding James Blunt. They did a James Blunt free day with no James Blunt songs, interviews or mentions. Shame they can't do the same thing with the Scissor Sisters

I like all the play list generally, Ferns rock and Heavy metal tracks being an exception. I especially like a tack that Annie Mac was playing last week which was a dance stylie Irish Rigs and Reels type tune, not sure who it was by or called.

"Music for a Found Harmonium" I'm not even that keen on the original version of the song to be honest! Although, it is indeed better than Paddy's Revenge.

I happen to like Glasvegas. Though I agree that cover was dire.

I'd ban the songs that go nowhere. Like Eric Pridz and his Pijanu or whatever its called. I'd also ban the older songs that get ridiculously overplayed. Galvanise by the Chemical Brothers for instance.
