On Tuesday, R1 were discussing embarassing situations, thanks to mobiles ringing at awkward moments.

Young Sara Cox was at the doctor's with her new baby, when she ran into Kelly O. Sara's 'phone suddenly rang, and her mobile was playing Dizzie Rascal's current tune. Kelly O gave her a look of complete horror, clearly thinking Sara was too old for this ringtone! Indeed!

The discussion led on to listeners commenting about their mobile 'phones ringing in the middle of weddings, at interviews, etc. So....

I heard this as well, which was quite amusing. Though I appear to be listening and watching the same things as Viv, thats worrying.

Nope, but many people have the same ringtones and message tone as me which is annoying.

I had my phone set up with a recording of my daughter shouting "pick up the phone Dad ..... Come on Dad, your phone is ringing" etc

I did blush when it went of when I was with the Grocery Buyer at a large Supermaket's head office.

I have mine on vibrate and often it's in my pocket and when it goes off I scream

Oh yeah..

My phone is nearly always on silent, thereby avoiding embarrassing situations caused by forgetting to switch it off when appropriate. It's a bugger to find when you lose it though.

I couldn't keep a 'phone on silent, in case I missed anything important. Even though I've got voicemail, I do normally like to receive my calls on time.

My phone is near enough always on silent, and I rarely answer my phone the first time people call me. I guess people get quite annoyed with that.

I usually answer calls that I want to answer when they ring. The phone has a vibrate function.

Yeah, I take mine off vibrate as well, cause the vibrating on my phone is quite loud.

I had a few problems with Samba recently, issues with symbolic links on a network share. I sorted it out eventually, I had to edit a conf file.

My ringtone is the sound of a telephone. My daughter's is "Bring on the trumpets! Bring on the trumpets!". I do not understand.

I believe my ringtone, for the odd rare time thatmy phone isn't on silent, is the Only Fools and Horses theme tune. And I think my text alert is Del Boy saying 'shut up you tart'.

the only time its emberassing is if i leave it on my desk and wonder off, come back to find i have a missed call, that has happened a few times, or if i am in a meeting, I think thats worse!!

Mostly I have the phone on vibrate so that I avoid embarrassing situations, but if I have the noise on, it's the Tardis for a text message and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes singing "Hello" for calls. Having the Tardis noise emanating from my handbag usually gets me some funny looks.

My phone stays on silent all the time. I don't care if I miss a call I get so many minutes it's easy for me to call someone back and that way I control who I talk to and when.

As my phone is always on silent it never causes me any embarrasment. I think when it's not on silent it sounds like a normal telephone.

My ringtone for when my girlfriend calls is Gold Digga by Kanye West, coz its my favourite song but you should have seen her face when she found out! Had to change it when she did, so now have Can't Tell Me Nothing by Kany West too.

My ringtone used to be bits from the Little Chris Moyles skits. I could always hear the phone when it was buried deep in my handbag because I'd hear Little Dom going, "Nuts this, nuts that, nuts this, nuts that, nuts this, nuts that, nuts this, nuts that, nuts this, nuts that..." and Little Chris shouting, "STOP IT!" Needless to say, the family got pretty annoyed with that so I switched for a time to the skit of Little Dave in knickers and I could always clearly hear Chris saying, "Look at your bum-bum hanging out" and Dom saying, "Patsy, patsy, bum-bum." Ha. I'm so sad.

Now I'm over my annoying the family stage. It's usually on vibrate.

I never ever answer my phone, I'd rather talk when I want to talk, and call back. A colleague of mine thought it would be funny to have Shakin Stevens 'Merry Christmas Everyone' played as background music over the ringing when you called. Wasn't so * funny in August when he couldn't work out how to take it off! What a knob........
