The Dark Knight is an absolutely fantastic film and i agree with Foots, Heath Ledger has now earned my respect !

He has earned mine too.

He earned mine more when I watched the old Batman movie back. I've always thought Jack Nicholson did a fantastic job of playing The Joker and figured he would be a hard act to follow. Heath Ledger's performance makes Jack Nicholson's look amateur now. Although, admittedly its possible the older movie just hasn't aged well. I used to think Michael Keaton was a brilliant Batman, but Christian Bale's is miles better.

Obviously the acting in the new film is outstanding, which goes some way to making it a brilliant film.. but the direction and production was fantastic as well. Ledger's performance is fast becoming legendary and I absolutely agree that it was amazing, but the angle that they went at the film from was absolutely spot on as well.

Let me tell ya my good Munki fellow - I've thought long and hard about these 2 classic films - old and new, and I've come to the conclusion that because both of them are so damn good, picking between them would be like a mum or dad having a favourite kid - its not supposed to be like that, they are both brilliant and wonderful in their own ways, and thats great, and I'm happy with that conclusion I came to.
