Don't go mad, people!! I know this is cm.net, but, incase you are unaware of this, Scott is participating in the Great North Run this year on 5th October 2008.

Please help by sponsoring him over at um's! Minimum sponsorship = £2.00, so you can send less texts today, and get things happening people!!

I absolutely disagree with imposing a 'minimum sponsorship' amount. Were I to donate to something worthwhile I probably would try and give at least a fiver, but if there is a minimum amount you can donate, out of principle I won't donate at all.

For that reason, I'm out.

No. Shame on whoever imposed a lower limit on donations.

Would there be a reason for that though? For admin. purposes, for example, is perhaps less than £2.00 not feasible? Just wondered.

Screw Mills, there's only one half marathon on that day and it's the one I'm doing.

Bloody hell, just realised the shame of having a slower time than him would bring on me, my family and anyone who's ever met me.

There's a solution to that. Find out his time and if necessary, lie about yours. It might be the only way to avoid total ignominy.

By the way - why would go to a website to donate money without having been given any indication of the cause for which the money is being collected?

He's got a personal trainer, so he may be far more advanced than you might think ;-)

It's for the Anthony Nolan Trust : the um topic will explain more.

that's maybe why reading topics thoroughly before commenting is beneficial.

If you can do so without editing your posts, show me anywhere in this topic which mentions The Anthony Nolan Trust other than my post.

The link from my topic to UM's topic is where the Anthony Nolan Trust is mentioned. thank you. That's the purpose to a LINK.

Yes, Viv, but clicking that link is not part of reading this topic thoroughly; you can read this topic in its entirety without clicking the link if you wish. I chose not to click the link.

So what you actually meant was not "read this topic thoroughly", you meant "read this topic then go to another topic on another website and read THAT thoroughly".

Not a chance!

I agree with Tropher on this. If i wanted to give a pound to someone in a street (i know its not much but its all i had in my pocket), and as i went to put it in they stopped me and said, "sorry, £2 or more" I would think screw you, and then walk off, same with this. Im not donating.

Same here. Bit cheeky to demand a minimum payment, they should be grateful for what they get which is one of the reasons why I'm definitely not donating and because I've already donated to my friend (who was happy with what she got) as she's doing the same run.
To all the runners out there - got any good advice for the morning of the run? She's currently training hard, but will be shitting a brick on the day.

1. Make sure she is adequately warmed up.

2. Adequately hydrated.

3. The runners forum are a great source of advice/inspiration.. www.runnersforum.co.uk

ps: did you know you can wear the average pair of trainers for a distance of around 500 miles before they need replacing? Fascinating fact of the day.
