The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Will said on the show that the portable hard drive which had all the recent vids including Dom and Daves (brilliant and funny) star search was knackered - something about it wasnt able to mount. :(

Hopefully he can sort something.

If your reading this Will I read something that you could try:

Is it Firewire, I read somewhere that if you connect it with USB keeping the Firewire cable plugged in it sometimes mounts - may need to give it a couple minutes. Then remove USB cable. I think it "jumpstarts" it.

(Disclaimer bit - If it totally knackers it I take no responsibility!!)

That was the highlight of this morning's show for me, all manner of suggestions were coming in, such as "Switch it on and off again?/Blow it?/Rub it with a damp cloth?/Kick it? etc, then brilliantly.... "Bang Will's head against the studio window?" That got me laughing.

I had a friend who didn't know how to fix his computer, wouldn't boot, so he took it to a computer shop, who tried to turn it on, and alas it worked first time. So the next time he just unplugged it and walked around the room with it, plugged it back in and it worked, he thinks, if you fool the computer into thinking it's going to the 'PC Vets' it'll fix itself!

Just emailed this on the website, but I seem to remember Chris saying he doesn't read the email, I thought I'd post it here just in case anyone could pass it along....

Not sure if this’ll get to Will, but regarding the lost Dave & Dom videos on the hard drive….
I’d definitely suggest giving this a try: http://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm
Since it’s an external mac drive you’ll need to pop it out of the case and connect it to a desktop PC to run the software. While I haven’t had cause to use it, it comes pretty highly recommended. If anything can fix it this should, since it will try and recover any bad hard drive sectors it can – it could take hours though. Hope it helps!
