Oh My God! I can't believe that is what the great plan is! To climb Mount Kilimanjaro?!
Fair play to him and good luck Chris

but

Do we think he'll make it to the top? I hope he does.

That was a bit of a revelation wasn't it?

Also - he was talking earlier about having found out stuff about his grandad - which might back up the "Who Do You Think You Are" scenario too.

I dunno about Mt Kill-a-man-for-his-giro ((c) Bloc Party) but climbing any mountain is bloody hard. I had an ex who used to do it and she could do the whole chin ups off a door frame using just her finger tips thing and she said she'd find climbing a mountain too hard.

If they have maybe a cable car or an escalator then maybe but without some sort of winch and pulley system I don't see how he's gonna do it.

All that said though well done to him for trying though. He's a braver man than I am. Either that or he needs a boy of extra cash to pay off his stamp duty and estate agents fees.

Really? It's a cracking plan. My mum was at one point trying to raise fees to do it, but never saved up enough in the end.

I reckon it'd be brilliant to try it and say you've done it.

One of the nursery nurses at baby Yudster's nursery did it last year. You can book package tours to do it.

Wikipedia has already been changed.....

"The highest point on Kilimanjaro is Uhuru Peak, on the volcano Kibo 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) (or ninenteen hundred thousand feet according to the Chris Moyles breakfast show). "

Kilimanjaro isn't exactly a mountain climb like Everest - its more of a very tough hike up a very high place. Even if it isn't a classic piece of mountaineering as such, its a serious thing to be attempting. The girl I know who did it is very strong and fit, she's a county athlete and her marathon time is just over three hours - and she nearly didn't make it. Apparently in her group less than a quarter of them reached the top.

I think it's a fantastic plan. I'd love to try it. Chris has got to have fairly decent lung capacity to be able to run as much as he does on such a fast speed. I just toddle along on my treadmill for an hour and tire out super easy and I don't smoke! I think the higher he gets, the more that lung capacity is going to help out. Just going to Kilimanjaro, even if he fails, would be a really brilliant adventure. Good for him.

Good luck, Chris. A determined enough attitude will take you to the top. :)

Kilimanjaro is not a tough climb apparently, it's a very boring one though since there's next to nothing to see while you're walking. I think the biggest problem he'll have is altitude sickness, but he might not suffer from it.

I've missed something - i've been listening to last weeks shows again while I've been away.

So they / he are climbing a mountain? I'd like to do that. I've been wanting to climb some of the bens in Scotchlanddale but no bugger will come with me.

My sister climbed Ben Nevis earlier this year. Lucky tart.

I wanted to climb Ben Nevis. I'm going to my next time over. If your sister climbed it already, why don't you ask her to climb it again with you and then you guys can plan others to do together?

Well, if she annoys you you can always give her a little shove. Hmm. I'm thinking of the missed opportunities when I was atop the Empire State Building on Saturday with my sister!

Did you just 'lol' at me?! OMG!

Haha! So was my OMG. What the hell is loffle?! Maybe it's some weird hybrid of ROFL and LOL? Gah. This is making my eye twitch!

Oh. Hot news flash. My 17 year old son has no idea. Says it means 'nothing.'

My mum has climbed Ben Nevis. I've been up Snowdon, but I don't think that counts as a climb, you just sort of follow the beaten path.

I believe Foots has been up Slow Don, and Ben Neaves.

Two Gays, one is smearing vaseline on his chest, when asked why he replies that he has been told it promotes hair growth and that he wants to have a hairy chest, Robin, the other gay chap replies, don't be silly if that was the case I would have a ponytail growing out of my bottom.

*No Gays were harmed in the making of this post.
