The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

If you really want to get official about it we may also need to take into consideration the length of shows as well. If Tony's show was longer then Chris would still have a long way to go really. If Chris' show was longer then he may have already done more than Tony.

You may not be too far off he certainly would want to keep going until then so he can break Tony Blackburn's record for the longest running R1's breakfast show. He asked Simon Mayo last year did he think they'd break the record and Simon said 'almost certainly', so it's in this thinking.

It's only approx. 2 years away ...

According to dates i've found, Tony Blackburn's record is 5 years 8 months - as Chris has been going more than 4 years 8 months I would put the overtaking date at around 06/09/2009.

Sorry my fault I didn't make myself clear I meant December 2010 was just over 2 years away...

I didn't mean he is going to break Blackburn's record and leave just that he's unlikely to leave before then. So a year or so after (2010/2011) seems about right, although if he continues to rate highly and has an audience demographic that is correct Radio 1 he will could go for as long as he wants to.

Just an aside I saw yesterday the BBC Trust is launching a public consulation in to how the BBC serves young people (much like they did for news in the regions) and of course Chris was mentioned...

Why get so complicated? Number of hours on the radio is not the question here, it's just simply from when they started how long (days, weeks, months, years, whatever) have they held the Breakfast Show post?

He's not mentioned in the article but under his photo it says 'Breakfast DJ Chris Moyles is one of Radio 1's highest paid presenters', therefore I'd guess the Trust might well address his value, highly paid BBC presenters are very much front and centre of any debate at the moment (especially in rags like the Mail) when other areas are making cuts.

On where he would go after R1 I think we can rule out any networked show on Global...Chris' ex-flatmate Ashley Tabor (now head of Global) said they won't be hiring big names on huge salaries as part of their re-brand...although he did add “I’ve probably given him a pay rise now,”.

And the award... for the most pedantical post of all time... goes to...

*drum roll*

Sorry, so you're crying wolf now?

Like someone else pointed out elsewhere, to make a perfectly serious statement suddenly turn into a highly obvious joke, all you need to do is stick a smilie after it - Viv has been demonstrating this for years! Observe:

Yer a knob. :)

See? Easy.
