So our Bruvva is running the London half marathon today in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research. It's pouring with rain so I think he might get a little bit damp. (I'm honestly not laughing about that!)

Good luck to him, Rachel and Carrie. You can still sponsor him

Chris: It makes no difference that it's you posting these links and not she-who-won't-be-spoken-of. If people wish to donate to the cause that the individuals mentioned are running for, then you can do so here without lining the pocket of JustGiving. And please do drop the runner a note to let them know what you've done.

(Oh and please let's not have the whole "we don't approve of this website" debate again)

I do apologise Chris, I didn't for one minute think it mattered who was posting the links. As Bruvva had already posted the link once without you deleting it I assumed it was ok to do so again, obviously I was wrong!

Just heard from him, he managed the run in 2 hours 30 mins. Amusingly he was overtaken by someone dressed up as a bottle of beer! I'm sure he'll fill us all in on every achy moment he had when he's recovered.

Well its not the time he was hoping for, but he's been suffering with proper flu - not the Man kind, proper flu - all week, so he did well to get out there and do it at all!

Well done Bruvva. 2 1/2hours is still way better than I could do.

Aww thanks guys :D

Yes, the time was a good 15-20 minutes slower than I had hoped for but the weather wasn't exactly conducive to running and I was feeling rubbish, I was having trouble breathing from 4 miles onwards which wasn't much fun and to be honest, if it wasn't for the absolute nutters standing in the torrential rain shouting encouragement as I went past I'm not sure I would have done it. Anyway, I'm now eyeing up marathons for next year - the Loch Ness one looks fun! But for now, I don't intend to so much as run for a bus for at least a week!

Oh, and about the bottle of beer overtaking me. The state I was in, it's entirely possible it was an hallucination...Unfortunately, the men running the whole thing in those Borat mankini things weren't - not pleasant running behind them.
