So did anyone try the recipie last night? How did it go? Will you be trying the new one tonight?

I had every intention of trying it but only remembered when I was halfway through my roast dinner......doh!

I think I'll print em off and save em for another day as I'm busy tonight.

I don't need to, I already know how to cook, and I do it pretty much every day. I am warming to jamie oliver though. I don't normally like celebrity crusades, but he actually does seem to be getting somewhere significant with this, and his other campaigns.

He was very funny on Comic Relief with Ricky Gervais and Andi Peters.

Damn I have no idea how to implant a you tube video thingy on this....stupid not easy to follow instructions! Why can't you just drag and drop to make life easier.

I tried the beef last night, which was really nice (although I had noodles rather than egg fried rice). It was nice to have some fresh ginger and garlic as they are both really good for you. Aled made me laugh this morning when he said it had 'too much taste'.

I'm tempted to make today's recipe too, as I promised myself a couple of weeks ago that I'd cook more at uni as it's cheaper and I really enjoy it.

So far the meals are all meat, and judging by Chris' elation when he heard the news that Dom was back eating red meat, I doubt he'd be open to the idea of a veggie option...

Yum!

It would have been even nicer if I hadn't added the half lemon to the recipe. It gave it a bit of an acidic taste, which took away the creaminess.

Woo you got mentioned this morning. Well not by name but they read your post almost word for word.

Wow, looks lovely TIAL, and I heard you quoted too - they even said you used taglietelle.

Haha. I do love Frankie Boyle. He's coming to my theatre in a couple weeks, looking forward to seeing him.

I find myself either cringing in horror or laughing uncontrollably at Frankie Boyle. To which I imagine he would say - job done. His "veggie option" quote is one of his best ever.

I love Frankie Boyle, I'd love to see him. His tour is sold out, but next time I'll definitely be on the hunt for tickets.

Yay, I've never been mentioned on the show before! I sent it in by email so they read out my real name rather than the one on here.

I might give the curry a go tonight too - but there's a few ingredients I'd never normally use (chick peas? dessicated coconut?). Still, I guess that's part of the fun.

Ha. I just recognized your dish off of their website! Your comments are included & everything. Good job, TIAL! Looks good (though I'd get rid of the bacon, since I'm a veggie).

I have to say although I adore Jamie I do think the book is a bit of a let down especially at £25! (Although most places have it at half price at the minute) Some good recipes but I think he just published it because he feels he had to have a book out for Christmas. To really get people cooking these things he should publish the book at a much cheaper price.

I did the curry last night, was very nice indeed. Took about an hour in total, from prep to dishing it up. I didn't use corriander, as I think its vile and I forgot the Lemon to squeeze over it. Also i didn't have a pan so I did the chicken in a wok, the onions and stuff in a frying pan and then added it all togeather once it was cooked.

The girlfriend was very impressed but she did say I should make it again, then added, oh I forgot to tell you, were out for a curry tomorrow (tonight) with my Dad........

All in all, its very nice and worth a go.

I didn't manage to do the curry in the end as our little Tesco (Metro) didn't have the korma paste and I thought that was a pretty essential ingredient.
However, I did buy the book for a tenner (would never have paid 25 quid though, I can't believe people actually buy it at that price?). It's really good, especially for students and it doesn't patronise like a lot of student cook books do. So hopefully I'll be able to cook some new recipes rather than the standard 3 or 4 I can do off by heart.
Is anyone tempted to do the fudge cake today? I don't think I will as I'm not really a fan of puddings and would rather consume all those calories in the pub!

And thanks Sunny, it would have been perfectly nice without the bacon - maybe a bit of onion instead?
