Right, those of you in rented houeses / student digs etc. - Tell us about your landlord - can he be any worse than mine?

- He has never provided any form of written tenancy agreement
- He takes the rent in cash
- The filth turn up every so often at five am looking for him because all his stuff is registered at my address
- He wants to evict me because he wants his rent early and I've not given it to him because I don't get paid until the day the rent is due

Anyone got a worse landlord?

My landlord is great - granted he is my dad and I don't pay him for rent.

I do a bit of writing for the student rag here in Cardiff and it seems not a week goes by where we're not grassing up another corrupt abode barron. No central heating alone is very serious stuff-unfortunatley if you didn't sign a written agreement you're at a bit of a loose end....I think your main concern should be to admit that life isn't always perfect, cut your losses and get the h. out of there.Easier said than done but try to at least steal as much carpet as you can when you go.

My bf's landlord is bizarre. They signed an agreement, but it's a sample one (you know, like the one that the unis will hand out to landlords as an example), & he has changed none of the details on it. He said "do what you want, if the neighbours complain I'll tell them where to go."

When he first moved in, broken things included: fridge/freezer, shower, various lights, no keys for the bathroom window, etc. The bathroom is just minging, but 4 lads live there, so I dunno what I expect. There are also no curtains in the living room, the doorbell is broken, as is the smoke alarm.

Other than that...!

What do you expect for £40p/w?
