play.com are advertising all the Bond films on dvd for £9.99

They will, in all likelihood, cancel any orders but....on the off chance, this is the link

No they don't and the chances are we'll all get a polite email from play saying that they're sorry but our orders have been cancelled.

Worth a go though.

I think it depends if money has been taken.

If no money has been taken then I believe they can cancel it.

That's what MFI did when they accidently put a £1000 bouncy castle up for £100. They cancelled it within a couple of hours of me ordering it. Gits.

Simply placing the order at that price is not in any sense a legally binding contract. You could, for instance, order 100,000 of them at that price, it does not legally oblige the company to deliver such a quantity in just the same way they are not obligated by the price displayed.

For a more in-dpeth analysis I suggest you go to any good library and study law!

That would have caused arguments years ago. See, I would have wanted to watch the DVD but my sister would have wanted to have watched the DVD also or was just about to watch it or whatever. Even if I asked to watch it with her she would have said "No. I'm watching... wah wah".
It was always like this. So mum just got us one of something each!

Actually he's wrong. He doesn't have to sell it at all. Imagine it was a 52" Plasma Tv that had been marked up at 99p or better yet a Ferrari. If he sold that to you for the lower price he would be out of a job. A shop does not HAVE to sell you anything.

However if the price difference is negligble and above the wholesale price then most shops will honour the lower price in the name of good customer service.

I lived with 3 people studying law and I found the section on contracts and the sale of goods to be most informative.

Play.com have, in the past, given out £5/£10 off vouchers as compensation for their screw-ups - it's worth a shot for that reason alone. I wonder if the quidco will track...

So you would need to have your own DVD players and TVs?

I am very mean however, I'm not too sure why I am being mean this time? It was a question based on my opinion.

I was too busy telling everyone in the office about it, I didn't get round to ordering myself one. Oh well... I don't like Bond anyway.

I got four colleagues though who have receipts for their £9.99 Bond box sets though, so at least some people got away with it.

They've updated their database now - I'd cancel the order if you haven't already.

Yes although my order is still showing as £9.99. They won't go ahead and take £99.99 a) because it'd be a consumer relations disaster and b) there's only £30 in the bank account I used for that purchase :)
