Radio 1 only gained 200,000 not 500,000 - which is still impressive.

Its a shame Chris's figures went down, but the period that Rajar was taken from was including stuff up until there holiday but not anything after the L.A trip.

I think some people have mentioned on the forums before, it wasent there best stuff before L.A.

But, Ever since L.A i think the shows have been back on top form and hopefully that will show within the next 6 months of Rajar.

I agree with what Chris said this moring - whatever RAJAR say, the show has been excellent since LA and I would be totally happy for my licence fee to fund more of the same whenever they need a break!

I would have to agree the shows have improved i think they needed the LA break,
and people have established how accurate RAJAR is many times !!! So keep up the good work

It's not a foolproof method but it's the best we have. I kinda stopped listening over the summer. I was lucky if I caught 15 minutes. Although that is mainly due to not getting out of bed till 9.45

I think that if you listen to the whole show every day there's plenty to enjoy. For the people that don't and only hear snippets, maybe they are catching the off moments and feel the need to piss and moan? It's never been nonstop hilarity. I can only speak for myself but I laugh several times a day when listening -- whether it's from something Chris has just said or because Dave's laugh is so infectious, I still end up with a smile on my face and that's the point of the whole thing. The show has been a consistent source of entertainment and enjoyment for the die-hards over the years. Who gives a * about ratings?!

That said, if you're attributing their latest brilliance to their L.A. jaunt, even better! They should come back! I'd be all for that idea

I wonder if the rise in unemployment has anything to do with it... it makes sense to me - more people are unemployed, so less people are up that early in the morning (though if it were me who was made redundant yesterday, I'd be up at the crack of dawn every day trying to get myself a job, but most people in this country are lazy) and yet there are more who are free to listen later on in the day - accounting for the general rise in Radio 1 overall.

As I said in another thread on here, I don't listen to it live anymore due to various reasons but always download the Podcast every week (nearly 200 of them now ) but I've never noticed a drop in quality.

Perhaps it's just those casual listeners that have tuned off that switch station every 3-6 months which have now switched back to Capital FM, Radio Aire, Red Dragon, etc which had previously been added on over those six months.

Regarding the dip in quality before LA, perhaps them not being at the Euro 2008 this year meant the quality dropped a bit?
