Who has been the greatest live act ever?

The best band or act you've ever seen?

The Stones, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Queen, Oasis, Pink Floyd, Prince, Madonna, Paul Weller, The Who, David Bowie, AC/DC, Nirvana, Radiohead or someone else?

This Day in Music have just started a poll to find out. If you fancy voting for who you think should win go to http://www.thisdayinmusic.com

You can vote for any act, just go to 'other' on the list.

I'm gonna say Muse at this years V festival. Best performance ever. Check out Knights Of Cydonia on Youtube. Can't be arsed to link it.

I'm going with The Stones. I've seen them many times and each time they're just superb. Utterly fantastic. The Who would be a close second, though.

Green Day - again, at The Bowl. I also saw Eminem there.

We Are Scientists were brilliant too.

Foo Fighters were great in their heyday, as were the Chili Peppers (both pre-2003). But I would probably go for GNR.

The Jam. By a mile the best band I ever saw.

Back in the late seventies I saw Black Sabbath a few times - I think they were probably past their absolute best by this time, but the gigs were interesting experiences for a 14/15 year old..........

Not a favourite bamd but one of the best gigs I've ever been to was Level 42. They really surprised me.

This may induce a certain amount of ridicule, but I could say the same about The Feeling.

I didn't get to see the original line up of GnR, only the 'Axl and friends' collaboration of recent years, but they were still fantastic. I've seen Velvet Revolver 5 times, and they are (were) always brilliant.

It's tricky deciding my favourite gig actually, because, except for the very odd occasion (RHCP and Metallica for example) I always leave the gig on a high and in positive spirits.

Alice cooper is worth seeing if only to see him strangle his daughter who's dressed as a nurse.

Oh here we go again, my latent gayness...

Best gig I've been to was Robbie Williams at Hampden about 6 or 7 years ago now. I went to U2 there a few years ago too, but the sound accoustics in Hampden can be hit and miss and that day they were definitely miss.

Coldplay at Bellahouston Park was probably the next best I've been to. Though Tenacious D at the SECC were a really entertaining show. More than just turning up and playing their songs, it was like going along to a musical. Without the naff cheesy songs.

Where did you see them? I saw them at Hyde Park about four years ago probably (Radio 1 gig I think) and I was disappointed; they played their songs well enough, but they didn't put on much of a show or do much crowd interaction.

I was there too and I agree. Jack's sweat hit me in the face.

They were like that at Leeds festival too. Rubbish I tells ya.

Christ, I don't know if I can narrow it down to one.

For stage shows, Marilyn Manson is the man. As good as Alice Cooper was, seeing Manson on a dark August night in the open cold air is spine-chilling - in a good way. Tenacious D are also pretty hysterical too - their NEC gig was good, but their Reading set was far and away better.

For crowds, it's between Pendulum and Rage Against The Machine. Both were great bands, but the crowds really made it far better than it was on its own merits, and it lifted the shows tenfold. The artists did hold their own, though. I saw System Of A Down in 2005 and they were rubbish, but being in the crowd made it more fun.

And for purely good shows, whether through presence or singing or just overall package, I could name Foo Fighters, GnR, Billy Idol, Whitesnake, Megadeth and Nickelback, amongst many others who were fantastic.

I may just have to go for Manson or Metallica though - the former because it's morbidly entertaining, and the latter because they're so polished and hard-rocking that I just can't vote against them.

Just goes to show how much they've changed. When I saw them back in 93/94 they were all about the crowd interaction. I saw them during the summer that Love Is All Around was no1 and they asked people about the song and about Wet Wet Wet and then started trying to sing it :D

I saw Tom Jones, Kaiser Chiefs, Basement Jaxx, and Peter Kay all in 1 night! Live at The O2 all hosted by Dermot O'leary. Before anyone says I was dreaming I was not, it was a corporate launch event. The O2 Officially opened its doors to the public on June 24th but I was at The O2 Premiere on the 23rd! It was a amazing night, how the logistics of essentially closing down the business for the day and transporting thousands of staff plus 1 guest arranging flights booking hotels for those who needed it and no hotel booked was under 3*, the mind boggles but it all worked! :D
