I'm 25 & have been listening to Chris Moyles since 1997, aged 13/14, when he was still on 95.8 Capital FM as it was called back then (and after several renames over the last 4-5 years has reverted back to) & was gutted when he dissapeared off of Capital FM. I remember catching the last 15 mins of an edition of the Early Bit in 1997/8 although was a bit peed off I couldn't listen to him as I was still at school, then when I discoved he was on in the afternoons in early 1999. Since then I have always tried to listen to the show, although unfortunately I don't get a chance to catch him much on the early shows now.

I under thirty also (I assume that you are under thirty) and I've never liked the music on Radio 1. Yes, there have been a few good songs, but nowhere near enough to justify over half of the show being taken up by them. The lack of music was actually one of the things that attracted me to the Chris Moyles Show - they had time to be funny and tell great stories.

I over 30 but like some of the music played on Radio 1 mainly the stuff on Chris' show. I'm sometimes surprised at the level they go for, the Aled Is Here song is a really old version of Blue Peter as is the Grange Hill theme. But it's like Pixar movies. There's jokes the kids will laugh at and jokes the Adults will laugh at. Sometimes they are the same other times not.

People should find themselves something more to do with their life other than complain about a show on radio. Chris has made no hiding of his insistance that if people don't like or "get" the show, that they should listen to another BBC station.

6 music is quite good. Listen to that if you can.

Plus the whole "Dying on it's arse" comment indeed, the show before (Sara Cox breakfast) was the one dying on it's arse.

The show is odd without Dave, listening to the Capital FM shows, The two complete shows from 1997 on Radio 1 (on the net somewhere) and an afternoon show from Friday 14th April 2000 it is odd without him there. However, in the instance of the latter show Jon & Melinda make up for the lack of Dave.

I was listening to the show where they did the "Melinda" song to the theme of "Goldfinger" which I own on tape the other day...back in the day when the only way to re-listen to a show was to record it. I think it might have been a "one big belly" recording but I also may be mistaken, it was that long ago...

Melinda was great, I though he was relatively new when I first hear him in May 1999 until I read on here he was there from (mid?) 1998, I think he must have done two & a half years. What's great about him is that he tries to sneak in a sarky comment from time to time, sometimes Chris picks him up on it & other times he doesn't & he gets away with it, his laugh is also great as well. I think he worked under four main producers as well (Ben, Richard, Rhys & Will)

Shame he left really, although I like Lizzie she seemed to appear mainly on a "quick flick button" on a dodgy mic (perhaps that was part of the gaga, I'm not sure) whereas Melinda, when he was there, always appeared in the opening two links then disappear for a couple then return again. Wonder what he's up to now, I know he went to Australia not long after leaving but I wonder what he's doing now? Same with Lizzie for that matter, she ended up in Canada

BTW great to see that parents also appreciated the greatness that is Moyles

I agree. Apart from my last post- the only people I know at all to not like moyles are 46 and 59- all other people I know of all ages love him, be they 12 or 70- even my grandparents like him- 59 and 66... it may be aimed at people under 30 but I can't guarantee that they are the only people who will like him...
