So, as I've been cut off from the world on this god awful island - what's the dealio with all this?

Last I heard they had been bad boys and the Beeb had given them a spanking and Ross quit (correct?).

(My internet has been dead for 2 weeks - it's not easy keeping up)

Not quite, Brand has quit, Ross has 3 months' suspension without pay.

How bad were the calls? Judging by the reaction and punishment they were pretty bad.

I love Michael McIntyre too - and Mr Yudster and I have, to embarrassment of our children, established beyond doubt that Mr McIntyre's theory about the correct arm movements for optimum speed whilst skipping is completely correct.

Mark and Lard used to do bleeped words where the beginning and end of the words were still audible, they used to do that all the time. I guess that was when kids were mainly at school, but it was still in the day time.

I think The Scott Mills show should be "rapped" for broadcasting something so offensively un-funny as Badly Bleeped TV, let alone what the bleeped words sound like.

Oh come off it. They are having a go at him for not broadcasting swear words? If they had a news report in which someone swore and it had to be bleeped out where it couldn't be edited out for some reason then no-one would have any problems. Why then, should he get in trouble for broadcasting the exact same thing where they are not infact swearing at all and he even says at the start of the feature that they take ordinary tele clips then bleep them so it sounds like they are swearing. There's no actual swearing involved ( the use of the word actual in this case is justified and in context).

I think the media is just having a massive go at the Beeb lately.

The point, from Ofcom's point of view, is that the word is beeped not only to give the impression that it is a swear word, but in such a way that makes it sound like it is a specific swear word. I don't agree that it is something to get worked up about, but it is a crucial point in what Ofcom are complaining about.

I agree with Yudwuk.

It had been "purposefully edited to sound identical to the word f**k" and the programme had therefore breached the broadcasting code, Ofcom said.

What broadcasting code? "Thou shalt not beep a word to sound like *"?

They really have all the basis covered.

Anyhoo they've not made the word sound like the word * they made it sound like a bleeped version of the word *. Which is not swearing at all. He did issues a Clarkson style apology today....quite funny.

Surely only those who know the swear words in the first place would be able to fill in the gaps. It's hardly going to have any effect on innocent children.

I don;t care about the words or the implications of the words. I just think the more people who point out that the Mills show is dull and dreary the better.

I take it bleeping out an actual swear word will no longer be acceptable for Ofcom then? Because clearly if they edit the word * to have a bleep over it, they will have "purposefully edited [it] to sound identical to the word f**k".

I wish Ofcom and their wee complainer morons would just * off.
