Muffin took part in a mock competition today and came third from 40 dogs despite it not being split into height and ability catagories so she was third best overall!

I bought a stupidly expensive present for my lady.

Guh.

I'm shit at maths, but an increase of 2.5% would've made it £10.02 prior to the VAT drop. I think......

How does that work? It's gone from 17.5% to 15%. Am I just being thick? Don't answer that.

Realistically though, that sort of difference is so marginal, you'd have to spend loads to see any real difference and if you can afford to do that, you didn't need a cut in VAT in the first place.

Without quibbling over a few pence, 2.5% of £100 is £2.50. If I am buying something for £100, I am unlikely to complain about it being £97.50 or £102.50. At the end of the day, it's £100. I would need to spend £500 to save a tenner.

£10 off £500 is not, in context, really a lot of money.

I fail to see how this is really going to make a huge impact financially. The only way that I can see encouraging people to go out and spend is if they read signs like "we will pay the VAT" and think "ohh, how good of them, lets buy that!". Basically, its only going to get people spending more if they are daft enough to believe what they read is good for them.

I expect they buy The Sun. And like Piers Morgan. (he's a c*nt)

Good thing.

See Foots it's all about the free Lion bars really. Economics is so much more interesting when the currency is old school confectionary. (I couldn't bring myself to write skool......oops)

Mmm

The problem with me answering what you have written is that I get myself all worked up and swear about the governement and how they **** ABOUT ALL THE ****ING TIME!

On most subjects I take a normal, relaxed, back seat. However, they seem to spend their time trying to get one over on the other lot and .... see - now I'm getting involved. Imagine one of them had released something to the press about the other lot? Imagine if one of them had done that!! And imagine they had done that under the umbrella of "the public have a right to know"! Can you understand how irritated I would get by that??

Just as well it hasn't ****ING HAPPENED THEN! ARRGGHH!!!!

It's 2.13% of the price including the VAT, the amount deducted would equal 2.5% of the value of the item, net VAT.

Topher wrote:BTP are the same as normal Police, but they cover the railways though - they don't have lesser powers because they're transport police. Also, assuming he's a special, they have the same powers of arrest as PCs - PCSOs can only detain for up to 20 minutes I believe, while they wait for the regulars to turn up - it is, however, starting to be seen as the main platform for getting into the regulars.

Rusty Bike, be prepared to be called a plastic police officer, C3PO, whatever - but I'm sure it'll be worth it to get the experience to get you in the regulars.

That's all correct. Specials are volunteers but have the same powers as regulars, they basically duplicate the numbers although they can only do a couple of hours a week, and BTP are regular police but in a different division.
Also, members of the public can actually detain people for a longer period of time than us PCSO's which baffles me. I'm not even sure if we can detain people full stop, I think we have to just convince them to stay.
I hope to god it is a platform.

Oh hell yeah. I got that "plastic police" all night Saturday. Which reminds me; I bow down to anyone who has teenagers. Little * are so dramatic!

In other news, I've done all my xmas shopping; which means I can now chill.

I've done mine too except for Joel. There's a load of stuff I'd like to get, but he's not old enough yet - all the decent toys are for 12 months at the youngest, most of them are three years!

* it. Just get them and then you can play on them until he's old enough! I had to be dragged out of the ELC the other day for spending a little too much time of the walk on keyboard and the fake kitchen. Plus, I did try to get on the funky ride on zebra.
