What exactly was unclear about them saying that they weren't going to be doing Ramble any more?

The threads today are giving me the feeling that there are a significant number of listeners who just don't get the show...

Perhaps it was the last ramble of 2008 as seeing as tomorrows show is the last of the year, which will probably be a Christmas special?

I was hoping that but it wasn't really clear. Same happened with Pub Quiz on Tuesday when Chris called it the last ever pub quiz but Aled pulled him up on it and he said that it was the last one of the year and not ever.

Tbh I think Ramble has become a bit tiresome now but it was a surprise that it's being dropped.

From what I heard, it sounded like today's was the last EVER Ramble. Ironically Dave actually messed up the last ever shout.

It's a shame it's going. It's a CMS tradition really, isn't it? I don't really see the harm in just keeping it.

I don't dislike ramble, it just became part of the furniture, if you think back to its early days it really grabbed you, was different, ghostly ramble, TV themes etc, but recently they didn't play around with it as much, and so it had become like an old comfy pair of slippers.
It's slowly sinking in just how different the shows going to be in the new year, so many fundamental changes.

That was a bit of a Jekyll and Hide post. My bad.

What I meant to say was that it has become tiresome but I'm gonna kind of miss it in a messed up sort of way.

Zenon, Zenon...(searches for Zenon's posts)

Nope, I can categorically say that I am not him. For one Jon Gaunt is a racist gutter journalist for a paper I'm not fond of so there's one difference between us.

What does that mean? "My bad" is NOT a sentence and makes no sense. Don't listen to American crap and repeat it thinking it works. It doesn't.

FAO Americans - this applies to you too.

I think Ramble, when originally conceived, worked a lot better a few years back mainly as it was the most random thread of the show & was the longest. However seeing as the 6:30 link is the longest now (ranging from 15-30 mins) it's kind of lost it's uniqueness (if that's the word) that it used to have.

I think that the changes will be good, the show is still going strong although had a slight dip earlier this year, in order for it to keep fresh I say that some of those changes may have been necessary.

I'm really loving Matt "Fingers" Fincham at the moment. But only when he plays keyboard. As long as he doesn't speak he's great. That should become a recurring thing in the new year.

As for Ramble, it is funny how some days it's the shortest feature when they just go in to "RACHEL"'s coming up today in radio 1 bit. But some people aren't up in time to hear the opening link. The best ones are when they go the whole half hour without a song (apart from the brand new cheesy song) although I think they get told off when that happens.

I enjoy ramble, Especially when it goes weird. When Chris was doing theme tunes in with it as well I loved trying to guess what they were. It's an integral part of the show I think if for nothing more than allowing Dave to shout each morning. It's always fun to listen when someone else does it: Cheggers, Longman and I'm sure someone else has had a go in the past.

I will be gutted if they drop the tedious link, treasure hunt theme, ramble. Its what makes the show worth tuning in for each day :o

Only a few hours to find out....

New Season, New Things.

I'm sure it'll be fine, as long as they dont have the long chris moyles song that's on the first podcast...

Made me laugh the first time, but won't happen again.

Ah yeh. I expected to be woken up by Chris, but turns out to be Scott! Oh well. So the view is that they aren't dropping the ramble??

Wasn't the reasoning behind it that ramble basically lasts from 6.30 until 10 anyway?

Ramble was originally the longest link in the show, however seeing as none of them are that short these days plus the 6:30 link is the longest, it seems to have lost it's significance now, especially seeing, as mentioned elsewhere on this thread, ramble sometimes just leads to Rachel telling listeners what's coming up next.
