Brilliant! That has always been my main bug-bear with the 10 Hour Takeover, you can choose ANYTHING that you want (as proven when they even played Moyles' Obama song) and yet idiots still ring up and request something that is being played on Radio1 all day every day as it is.

I agree, it should be every bank holiday. It's one of the best things they do. When Greg James came on, he said he had always wanted to present part of the takeover and he was thrilled to be doing it. I can imagine how he felt, I'd love to be able to play all those random songs and not knowing what's coming next.

Nihal went a bit over the top with the "we just don't know what's going to be played next!" babble, when, of course he did - alright he probably didn't know what was going to be played in say 20 minutes time, but that's not what he said. Every link was the same.

Nihal is just typical of the majority of (mediocre) radio presenters who simply use a lot of babble about absolutely nothing to make it sound as though they have something to say. The bloke who is covering early breakfast at the moment is the same (although he is preferable to that appalling female they had covering last year). Nihal and many of the other Radio 1 presenters are just jobbers really, there's nothing about them that makes them exceptional.

I guess he may be better on his specialist music show, since he is (presumably) interested in what he is talking about and knows about the subject; it's not a genre of music that interests me particularly, though, so I've never listened.

Sadly Mediocre presenters = lower wages = more profits for Radio companies, that's the way it is now sadly these days. None are willing to be different or daring like Moyles, Peel, Mark & Lard, etc. so that's why you end up with a bunch of generic shows & generic DJ's these days sadly.

Nihal's alright - he's nothing special and i wouldn't download his talk radio podcasts, but he's a friendly voice that jabbers on a bit. Isn't that what a radio presenter is at it's base?

He's good on his specialist show as well.
