The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Had a look through the radio 1 site etc and see they are doing some 'best bits' of the video stream this week, but is anyone ripping the stream to view later? (probably not over legal) or have I missed any mention that it maybe be available at a later date (which i doubt, specially now there are 'highlights) but thought I would ask. I am unable to listen to the show live, so have always listened during the day but always feel I am missing out on something cool when they do stuff like this.

Day 3, Wednesday 14th January: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T935Q170

Managed to capture the entire show today, 3 hours, 41 minutes!

Will Kinderberg and the onliners have twigged the "interesting" thing from the video -- they now put up a card during the records on the stream.

Highlights
* 2h:00m Press-ups
* 2h:44m Fire at Will!

Ha! Lazy bar steward.

I've set my lappytop to wake itself (and me) from hibernation at 6am so I can set up the recording. Just to help out you lazy buggers! Well, OK for me as well.

Today's show was a great one. Lots of funny stuff. Enjoy!

Erm, I downloaded Day One and, despite the fact it took an hour to download, I only ended up getting 10 seconds of 'Beautiful Day'. Am I doing something wrong? I'm using Google Chrome as a browser and realplayer.

Use VLC, like in the instructions I posted.

Thank you very much for this, it's great, and I really appreciate you going to the effort of doing it. I know you said that 'in VLC, skipping ahead may not work unless it's been playing for a while, but I did skip ahead minutes and fast forwarded once it had been playing a while', but could I just ask approximately how long 'a while' is? I tried to fast forward after 7 minutes and it went back to the beginning again, so how long do I need to wait for the ff to work? Thanks again.

Edit Point/Update: I've found out the answer to my question, as well as finding the very handy 'Go to a Specific Time' option, so I'm all sorted. All I'd like to know now is what is/was the 'interesting' thing about the videos? Having watched a fair bit of Monday's so far I haven't noticed anything, and since you've said that Will and the online people have noticed too, can't you say what it was now?

I just watch it in real player and it's fine.

As for the "interesting" thing I'd take a guess that on the radio 1 website when a song is playing you see the band info but on the actual stream the cameras continued to broadcast hence he said they now put up a "we'll be right back" card on the stream as they know what people are doing but don't mind it so much kind of way.

The forgot to do it during the seg with the Killers new song in, you got to see Matt firing the jingles and the next song while Chris was out having a fag. I like watching that kind of stuff but then I'm dull and I can understand why they would prefer not to show that. Also I love the fact they show the handovers with a camera pointed at their studio monitor as well so you can see Sara.

I think it's a great trial and I hope they do it again somewhen. I guess they are working out the technical stuff and trying to figure out if it would affect the show in anyway, i.e. them doing more visual stuff.

If you're watching the 14th Jan stream, you can use the scrub bar to move around. Other days, the stream wasn't as clean, so may need a bit of time to get going. Play around with the fast forward (+) button to the right of the scrub bar. It's fun to hear them in chipmunk mode.

Basically, monkey around with play, fastforward, skip (Ctrl-Right Arrow), etc. until works.

That's exactly it. Most of the time it's kind of dull, as Chris goes out for a fag and leaves Aled or Rachel pressing buttons, but sometimes the team will stay and dance along or sing along to a record, which is nice.

I hope they continue to do video. I think the team were a bit self-conscious during the original one-day trial, but seem to have relaxed a fair bit this time around.
I'm guessing if they carry on, they'll forget the cameras are there. There are no cameramen wibbling around the studio, and most of the cameras are fixed. so they aren't terribly intrusive.

Fingers crossed, I'll have today's show up in a bit.

*drums fingers impatiently*

Seriously though it is very good of you to do this, damn shame the BBC didn't think to put it on the TV iplayer bit :(

I can't get home right now, so I'm FTP'ing from home to work at 1mbit/sec, and hoping the PC at home doesn't go on auto-standby in the middle of it.
If that works, I'll then upload it to MegaUpload, which will take about an hour and a half at 1mbit/sec. Then I'll post a link here. All for you, baby!

Thursday, 15th January: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AS5DT3GN

My recording starts just after the cheesy song, but before the mikes are hot, so nothing is really missed. The recording ends about an hour after the show really finishes, so there's just a black screen at the end. The video is therefore a bit oversized, but I don't know if editing a FLV is a good idea, so I've left it as-is.

Highlights
00h:34m Carrie sings Boom! Shake the Room
01h:30m Davina's "I love putting my head between big boobs" confession
02h:49m The Boys sing Men in Black, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Gettin' Jiggy With It (It's hard being Big Willy)
02h:54m Jacoba sings Fresh Prince of Bel Air. "Online, online!"
03h:05m Will Smith

No. The last broadcast was an album by Doves released in 2002 which included the songs There goes the fear and Pounding.

Great album it was too. Colin played Pounding on Ten Hour Takeover day.
