Is it just my imagination or Did Aretha Franklin sing God Save The Queen at Barracko's inaguration today? Good to know they've not forgotten who built that small country.

No, just tired and watching the tennis. There's no way I'm going to survive two weeks of late nights to watch the Aussie Open and getting up for work.

Realising I misread the scales on Saturday, and what I read as 30% actually said 3st 0lbs. Which turns out only to be a bit fat and not obese.

Sometimes stupidity is good!

3st? As in three stone?! What the *? What were you weighing?

How do you work it out? I'd be quite interested in mine, though I've no idea what I even weigh.

You stand on a pair of scales which sends an electrical impulse through your body (bare feet necessary, no it doesn't feel of anything) and measures it using Science. You can also get a thingy that you hold between your hands and it does the same thing - but is less accurate.

Sorry for the double post - but I had to add that it annoys me how people declaim about their "body mass index" having done a calculation involving their height and weight only. BMI needs three variables to calculate it, height, weight and body fat percentage. Which is why the people who talk about big muscly rugby players technically being clinically obese are talking utter, utter bollocks.

I don't own a pair of scales, let alone a super high tech electrical impulse one and I'll assume they're quite expensive and I'm not that intrigued really.

There will probably be a set available at your local gym (or maybe where you play ping pong) that you can use.

I have a set which you can use either to show all the stuff or just your weight. I am too scared to look at my fat percentage these days.

Ha, I don't belong to a gym and there's not one at the ping pong centre (I should know, I help run it.)

I'm quite happy to be defined as fat bastard who eats shit food.

20 quid Weight Watchers branded from Tescos. Probably not the most accurate in the world but they'll give you a good indication.

I don't usually forward on email jokes, but i thought this one was good -

One night, as a couple lays down for bed, the husband starts rubbing his wife's arm.
The wife turns over and says 'I'm sorry honey, I've got a gynecologist appointment tomorrow and I want to stay fresh.'
The husband, rejected, turns over.
A few minutes later, he rolls back over and taps his wife again.
'Do you have a dentist appointment tomorrow too?'

Well I've been on a health kick since Jan 1st (I dont usually do resolutions but it was a good time to start), and my Mrs bought some of those scales. Shockingly I'm 5' 10", had a BMI of 38 and body fat of 39%!! I've stopped alcohol completely (was usually a bottle of wine per night.....), and am eating healthily, and have managed to shift 17 pounds. I'm by no means starving myself, but just by ditching the wine I'm 5000 calories per week better off (approx 700 cals per bottle)
I expect the weight loss to slow down considerably after the initial loss, and still have 2.5 stones to go, but I'm dead pleased!
