and the BBC say -

So were the listeners too shocked to pick up the phone?

I don't get it. He didn't crack a joke about Auschwitz, he wasn't belittling the place or denying it or anything. If anything he was having a pop at the makers of Who Do You Think You Are......

Knowing what Will Youngs fans are like, all 5 of them wrote in to complain about his Will Young sketch but, so as not to apear like fanatics, also gave a mention to what Chris said about Auschwitz, and seeing as that is more "newsworthy" that's what the papers run with.

No, what happens is a newspaper writer is sitting at his desk with nothing to write, listening to the radio. Chris say's something like that, the writer thinks 'ooh, that might be close to the edge' and writes the whole story like a 6 year old who's trying to get his brother in to trouble for swearing. All that's missing is the line 'Oohh I'm telling on you!'

The various versions of this 'story' all fail to mention that Chris then went on to say how good the Jerry Springer episode was, the main theme of which was, yep you've guessed it... the Holocaust.

Although Chris probably isn't helping himself with such comments in the current climate where every possible thing that might contravine taste and deceny is going to be picked up on just as previously it was TV/Radio fakery.

Well thsi is the problem isn't it, it's selective media & then the f***ing morons who believe everything the papers tell them start complaining.

In all honesty I have been listen back to old Moyles, Mark & Lard, Jon Holmes & Mark Fox shows from abotu 5-10 years ago & far worse was been said then. These histerical little wanchors just need to go & do something with their life like listen to something else if they don't like it.

My fear is though that if Moyles gets fed up with the OTT censorship then he may end up deciding "screw it" and either leave or decided to become like most generic DJ's and just say what the last song was, what the next song is introduce the news & decide not to continue with the humourous links. All because the Heil has it's agenda of getting rid of the Licence Fee

I've never used the phrase "This is PC gone mad", but this is PC gone mad.

I listen to another breakfast show (from Los Angeles), and this kind of joke wouldn't even register on anyone's radar if it was told on there.

I studied media at college, and you quickly learn something. The media has NO scruples. All they care about is making money. They will go to extreme lengths to get stories, and if none are available, they make up their own, as is the case with the 'joke' Moyles was supposed to have cracked.

Hyping up non-stories sells papers, simple as.

Absolutely, classic example, the only bit I saw of CBB this year was when Lucy Pinder got evicted , in the interview she came across as a nice, down to Earth girl who didn't mind that she got evicted from the show at all. Yet according to the Daily (Porn) Star she stormed out of the house (she didn't) and made a scathing attack of fellow housemates (which she didn't)

I can't stand the papers & now make a point of not buying them these days, full of toss!
