The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I honestly thought Chris would have left Radio 1 by now, the way the beeb seem to be overreacting to all sorts of things.
I heard what was said and it was an unremarkable line which was quite funny and it was certainly more of a dig at the makers of the show than a dig at the jewish suffering at Auschwitz.

As you have all said on here...anything to sell papers. The only thing which may make it worse is the Ross/Brand syndrome were you end up with more people complaining that didn't actually hear what was said and are just taking it off the news.

Don't normally post but this kinda thing gets on my moobs...by the way, Russell Howard is a very funny man.

I think that's why "Listen Again" isn't available for Tuesday's show, so as to stop that happening again. This way no one can complain if they heard it after the original transmission. How IMHO if you complained about hearing it via listen again, after transmission, then that complain should count really, because it's obvious that people will be jumping on the band wagon.

The thing that bugged me about the Sachsgate affair was that it was pre-recorded so even if they had not broadcast it the phone calls would still have already happened. So I never knew what people were complaining about....if they'd not broadcast it it still would have happened.

Seconded. He should dedicate his whole career to ridiculing these miserable bastards. If they'd spent more time bashing the greed of the banks than the so-called 'feathered bed' of the Beeb then they might actually have a worthy place in the world, but, as someone else said, they've no scruples, they adhere to the bent system of which I hate (which reminds me, Hustle is on in an hour, very recommended TV).

Also, that 'Arsey Will Young' clip from the afternoon show needs listening to, from the days when they wern't afraid to shout back at stupid people, and when the BBC had balls:

Urge to kill rising.....

I truly hate what the media has become. A factory of lies, designed on producing as much uninformed slurry as possible, which the general public lap up and cry 'MORE PLEASE'.....and the media is only too happy to oblige....

Thanks for the clip Sav1our. I just popped over to Will's official site to have look at what they are saying. I can't believe that they are still writing to complain even though most of them haven't even heard the show. It beggers belief at the mountain they are making out of this mole hill. Its no wonder Will isn't playlisted by Radio 1 anymore, his fans are just too much trouble 8O

What a bunch of morons, they clearly don't understand that it was meant in jest and as someone said before, Moyles is quite good friends with Will Young. I only skimmed and only through a bit of it, but quite a lot of them are saying they didn't hear it... Sachsgate anyone?! On top of which, someone on there actually compared Will Young to Barack Obama 'in that they both have such dignity' or something.

It's simply getting to the stage where radio presenters can't say anything slightly "risque" without it becoming some sort of public outrage despite the fact that majority of people who complain are reading crap tabloids. Moyles is totally innocent here - I heard the show and his Auschwitz comment was in no way offensive against people involved in the camp. He would have no reason to do so for one thing.

And the whole thing gets even worse when a group involved in Auschwitz, truck drivers (referring to the 'Lorry Driver' complaints) or whoever saying his comments were unacceptable. Context is the key word here.

I really feel for Chris - this sort of thing is happening far too often.

I've not listened to Tuesday yet and I feel a crusade coming on.

Tuesday's show got taken down, so that no one could here it again to avoid another Sachsgate

See this is the thing, compared to what Jon Holmes was doing on Virgin Radio (Swearing Radio Hangman for the under 12's, Challenge The Eliminator, The Pissing Contest) what Moyles has done is tame, nothing in fact.

I listened back to old Moyles, Mark & Lard and Holmes over the last couple of days & to be honest the comments made back only 5 years ago would have seen all three get the bullet, and even then in Moyles' and M&L's case they weren't that strong in the first place. Holmes on the other hand

I heard it and it was totally innocent. Apartently you can listen again with the real player links. Dunno not tried. I agree with Ant, I feel for Moyles. You can tell he's frustrated by it all but he must feel like he can't blow his top for fear of getting yet more complaints.

Moyles has hardly ever over-stepped the mark but the current media climate doesn't help matters.

I see foot-loose registered and posted... I just did too. I toned down from my post on here though, I didn't call them all morons.

The other thing is that quite a few on there seem to be (now former) listeners. How much does that smack of sour grapes?! He can take the piss out of anyone else, but woe betide him if he dare say anything about Will Young...

The problem(s) here is that most of the general public through sheer stupidity allow themselves to be led by the nose by the gutter press (by which I mean practically all daily newspapers). For their part, the BBC pander to it by bending over and assuming the position at the slightest whiff of "scandal". Hence them expressing "regret for any offence" that had been caused by a CM comment which generated zero complaints. I couldn't believe what I was reading when I came across that.

Basically most British newspapers are a disgrace to journalism, however the pig-ignorant majority sadly get the press they deserve.

Although I can't see it happening, I'd like to see CM stick two fingers up to the BBC and take a slot on a station which isn't going to attract the attention the BBC does, and in doing so be able to broadcast properly without having to self-edit every sentence in case some scummy Daily Mail hack wants to misinterpret it.

I'd love to hear a real CMS, instead of the watered down version all this bullshit forces him to produce. It's a measure of his skill in his job that even this version is head and shoulders above what most jocks can deliver...so imagine how good it could be if given free reign.

Oh, hi by the way. I'm new :D

I feel the opposite, Ed Pummelton (welcome by the way!) I feel that if he went to a commercial station, he would be less free to do what he wants, as they answer to their customers the advertisers. Plus there'd be tons of incredibly annoying adverts every few minutes.

It's an age thing. All the whingers are 50 to 60 somethings who have just worked out that their Pensions are screwed, had too many drugs in the 70's and haven't got a clue how to use a computer. They are so bitter and wanting that the hate to see the generations below them, who in general are level headed, happy, hard working and caring, as well as not being homophobic, Racist bigots, and they hate us. The only thing "we" do is swear a bit more and take the piss out of everyone, so that is their only point of criticism.

Rant, done.

I have an idea for a newspaper.

We call it 'The Truth' and fill it purely with stories which are direct replies to the uninformed lies the tabloids print. The replies calmly and simply point out the facts, exposing the tabloids lies, even including celebrity responses, where they can actually reply to the gutter-press!

Good idea? :D

See before I start replying to the hundreds of people I seem to have upset by posting that russell howard video on the other site, can someone PLEASE tell me when Moyles said whatever he said.

If I am about to start standing up for the guy, I should at least know what I'm defending!

Reading most of the posts on that site about them being outraged and furious just make me want to tear my own eyes out if I am honest, seriously people have way to much time on their hands if they can get worked up about anything that much.
