Could we possibly have the format for links changed so they open in new windows or tabs rather than it navigating away from this site? I know I could just right click and choose to open a new tab but I dont always remember so when I click a link I lose this site.

Middle-click generally opens a new tab too (though that's configurable I think). I'm used to it, I use it all the time for opening Google results, rather than going back.

I must admit, it is a slight annoyance. I know other message boards I use are set up so that all links appear in a separate window. This is the only one I've used that doesn't.

And my touchpad only has two buttons, so I've no such thing as "middle-click".

They look underlined to me.

Does your laptop have either a Shift or a Ctrl button?

Shift + Click = New Window.
Ctrl + Click = New Tab.

On *nix systems, a middle mouse click can be emulated by pressing both the left and right mouse buttons simultaneously - I don't know if you can do this on Windows though.
