The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Article on Daily Star's Website, written by Nigel Pauley.

Under-fire Chris Moyles totally lost the plot yesterday and launched into a seven-minute on-air rant against the Daily Star.

The touchy Radio 1 motormouth flipped because I had dared to report that his year-on-year ratings were down.

DJ Moyles raged about me to his seven million listeners: “He is obviously the No 1 Chris Moyles hater in journalism.
“This guy is such a baby, it is unbelievable. I think this guy wants to marry me – this guy can’t leave me alone.

“Someone at the Daily Star needs to get hold of this guy, he is out of control.

“He is clearly obsessed with me. He needs help. I will pay for him to get medical help to get over this fixation with me.

“Nigel, I will pay for you to get some help and treatment – you’re obviously going through puberty right now. I’m flattered in a way but it has got to stop.”

Amazingly, Moyles also invited me out on a date. And as he ended his bizarre attack the chubby chap showed his sense of “humour” by joking to his fawning sidekick “Comedy” Dave that the piece had been “Pauley written”.

Moyles, 34, self-styled “saviour of Radio 1”, is showing his growing frustration at not being able to live up to his boast that he will overtake Radio 2 veteran Terry Wogan, 70, as the UK’s top breakfast DJ.

Yesterday we reported that he had fallen further behind, even though he gained nearly 300,000 listeners in the last quarter.

Unlike Moyles, the Daily Star isn’t being beaten by golden oldies.

We have been the only popular newspaper title putting on sales – an extra 17,000 copies EVERY day towards the end of last year.

And while Moyles is facing a 25% cut on his £630,000-a-year salary as part of BBC cost-saving, the only thing going down at the Daily Star is our price, to a bargain 20p on weekdays and 30p on Saturday.

Yesterday, when I tried to take up his offer of a date, he was out of London.

A Radio 1 spokesman said he and his team were practising mountain climbing ahead of a Comic Relief challenge on Mount Kilimanjaro.

Seems as if they missed the point of his little rant, and have tried to turn it on him again.

... what?? That doesn't make sense.

Can everyone who replies to this thread not get themselves too worked up about things. This is The Daily Star we are discussing here. The sheer fact it calls itself a "newspaper" is laughable. Let's keep things in perspective.

If Wogan's added more than 300,000 listeners in Q4 then Moyles has fallen further behind. At least I think that's what he's trying to say. It would be a lot easier to explain (and therefore easier for your average Daily Star reader to understand) if he actually specified what Wogan's figures were.

Does someone want to send Nigel photos of Chris up the mountain?! Just in case he thinks it was convenient that he tried to arrange the date and he was "out of town". I'm thinking "Dear Nigel, I'm sorry to hear that you missed out on a date with Mr Moyles as he was practicing for his charity mountain climb. Since you love him so much, here's a picture of Chris on that mountain climb for you to spank it over. After all, it's clear he excites you from the way you keep going on about him."

Oh, and if he had listened to the whole rant, he would have heard Chris explicitly state that he's not that bothered about catching Radio 2 as it's probably impossible given the target audiences of both radio stations. And also point out that this time last year they pretty much had the same number of listeners. Which last I checked, was neither up nor down "year-on-year". I wonder what the Daily Star's year on year figures are? The figures he lists only apply to the last few months, the same period of Chris' latest increase in figures. Typical hack journalism, focus only on the facts that interest you and ignore the rest.

Plus, when your top rival / competition is The Sun... well - people in glass houses shouldn't walk about naked.

When he says he (Chris) has fallen behind he means he has less listeners than he did at this time last year. Seriously I wonder how hegot that piece past the editor. He calls Dave (Can't keep a secret for toffees) Vitty "fawning" but if his Tongue was more up the editors arse he'd be able to taste what he had for breakfast.

While it's true that Moyles figures are down, what he and everyone else who has reported on the latest figures has negected to mention is that radio listening as a whole is down year on year as well. Statistics. Love em or hate em you can spin em anyway you damn well please.

He loves the attention. And he loves the *. He wants to line up Chris, Dave and Dom and make like a circus seal.

The tabloids, full of BBC bashing shite....

..Then, Jeremy Clarkson of the brilliant and entertaining 'Top Gear' must've sat up one day and thought "You know what? Sod it, sod the lot of them" - Even though he actually works for 'The Sun'.

Also, while I'm here, a fortnight ago I was in the boozer and had the misfortune of seeing the News of the World slumped on the bar as I ordered. The front page was the Woss story even though he'd only been back at work 30 seconds, then - and this is crazy - at the top half of the frontpage was the free 'Life on Mars' DVD offer, just to boost circulation, you understand. So, the whole page was a blatant and spectacular kick in the bollocks for Broadcasting House. I sank my pint so fast....so as not to spray it back out again with disgust.

The Daily Star is a pile of sh*te, I only ever got it Miss Pinder was on the cover ;) Honestly every newsagent I go in has 4-6 copies left most of the time. My newsagent says paper sales figures are a load of old bunkum, they go by how many they send out, not how many they sell.

Anyway The Star is crap, Moyles is great & that columnist is a t**t

Clarkson is great, I mean the man has it spot on & the only good thing in the sun (except that third page for some reason ;)) Leave the BBC alone, instead start having a go at ITV for the embarrassment of a TV station that it has become, it's a far cry from the days of Thames, Central/ATV & Granada of old.

That is laughable. I listened to that "rant" and he hardly lost the plot. He was completely calm and was just laughing at the guy from the Daily Star. Muppet:D

That's what I was thinking...it didn't even really qualify as a rant by Moyles standards.

That guy seems an idiot.

Although it is a bit childish; trading insults back and forth, at least Moyles's rant was funny.

This guy is an idiot! Whatever he is trying to achieve by writing an article like that he just makes himself look a complete fool. He is just providing Chris with material and funny stuff at that.

You have to admit even though this is somewhat "bad" press its still press. Chris is getting a lot of publicity from this and if he was truly worried about it I highly doubt he would say so on the show he would just send in the lawyers or something. Saying that, the guy that writes all this is a dick head and only does it because he has no other good things to write about and Chris sometimes doesn't help with his "Rants".

I don't see how he can get away with making "jokes" about Chris' weight. Surely there is a limit for a newspaper. Why don't we all complain? They will do something if thousands of people complain to (Is it Ofcom or what ever I don't know who does the media).

Anyway, I doubt this is going to effect Chris at all, if anything it will get him more listeners. Most people that listen to the show know how he feels and know that he does not attack people like the paper suggest.

the star yesterday hinted that the 2 men building an iggloo on snowdon moyles was joking about were later revealed to be the two that were found dead?
I'm sure this was two completely different pairs of people, and if it was should moyles call the lawyers in?

**the article was under a pic of moyles signing his book for a star columnist***
