The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I think you're all missing the point. The pink hat is a red herring, he was clearly beaten up for being a posh bastard from the University of St Flashypants.

I've had more funny looks in that town per person for wearing a Celtic top than I ever have anywhere else. Including outside Ibrox. Not many Scottish accents there either. And it's the only place I've ever heard a posh Geordie. That was the clincher.

I will concede that he is posh. Definitely not a bastard though, one of the pleasantest and least offensive lads I know. If you are saying that people in Glasgow regard being posh as legitimate grounds to give them a beating, you really are confirming the stereotype.

In general (with very few exceptions, if any) no one deserves a beating ever.

If being posh were a problem in Glasgow, the west end wouldn't exist. I was only enjoying the opportunity to have a dig at St Andrews Uni.

I imagine that Glasgow is no different to anywhere else in reality. I would like to find out for myself one day.

What's wrong with St Andrews? I thought it was a good uni? My daughter wants to go to Edinburgh uni. Does that fill you with scorn also, or would she be ok there?

Last I checked, the order of Unis in Scotland went 1. St Andrews, 2. Edinburgh, 3. Glasgow. The problem with St Andrews Uni is most of the students there know it, and look down their noses at just about everyone.

I've never actually met anyone who went to Edinburgh uni, so I have no comment on them at all.

I'm comforting myself with the thought that she probably won't get in to Edinburgh. Not for any reason other than that I don't want her to be quite so far away......

There's worse places to go than Edinburgh for getting to other places - trains are pretty good in and out of there. St Andrews for one, it's very isolated.

What are her other choices? I had a mate who went to Guildford, that'd be pretty close for you, eh?

St. Andrews may not be the easiest to get to, but it's certainly not isolated. It's 20mins on the bus to Dundee and you're sorted from there.

Not sure, I know York is one - I don't mind her being away, but Scotland is a whole other country. And a lot further than just away.
