The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I'm a follower of Dave Gorman too, I think his paperback version of 'America Unchained' is out soon (as he has been plugging it).

But, of course, the best book in that genre is Danny Wallace's excellent 'Yes Man'. I read it when I was on holiday in Oz and thoroughly enjoyed it too. It's nothing like the film. Danny is on Twitter too.

Right...why are there people I've never heard of adding me on Twitter? I checked out who is following me the other day and there's a bunch of names I don't recognise....like a motivational speaker, someone from L.A. and other randoms.

Am I famous without realising it?

It's a bloody good job some people have photo's, only realised who Munki was from his avatar.....and Topher from his hair.....I was expecting the smurf for some reason.

That smurf has been out of action for quite a long time now.

That's why I used the same photo - I'm fairly sure I just added whoever I faintly recognised from on here and figured that the pic would let you make the link!

This keeps happening to me too.

Actually, now that you mention it, MTVUK followed me. I haven't watched MTV in years - mainly because any time I would flick it on it would be some pishy documentary rather than actual music. Although I'm told they are starting to play more music on the channel again.

I checked and MTVUK are following thousands of people. So really, I'm not that bothered. Everyone else that's following me I know who they are. So far anyway.

But then, I haven't found myself replying to any of the celebrities I'm following yet - I wonder if that has something to do with it.

I have had the odd random follower, but they always 'unfollow' me after a bit. Clearly I'm Mr Dull from Dullsville.

Adrian Chiles is 'following' me. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

I blocked all the randoms that were following me. I also snapped mine back to private to keep it from happening. There were 4 days in a row where every time I logged on, I had acquired a few.

More importantly than how we've acquired random followers, what the hell was Moyles doing Twittering at 2 in the morning?! I have a feeling there will be some Dave/Dom padding this morning...and perhaps another "late" start for the 6:30 news. He's going to be dead tired.

I get plenty of random followers, and its strange perhaps, but really no big deal. I'm in control of what I post on there, and no-one can find out my personal details simply by following me. If any individual became a nuisance, I would block them, but this hasn't happened, and I haven't heard of anybody else that it has happened to.

Are you a bit paranoid Sunny? Its ok for you to have free access to the non-private accounts of people like lily allen and stephen fry, but you are so vulnerable to loonies that you feel the need to go private?!

The thing is there are some people who follow thousands but there are others who only follow a few. There's one who follows me and looking at the list of who else they follow it's all celebrities. Do I have a famous namesake? I'm convinced I'm famous and haven't noticed yet. I saw some paps hanging round outside my house the other day.

Ha - I was looking to see if any family members were on there and I found someone else with the same name as me (not a relation as far as I know) and I started following her - she hasn't posted anything since though. If she notices, I'm sure she'll realise why I did it.

Yes.

Testing my theory, I replied to Dave Gorman. Sure enough, I've had a couple of randoms add me since that. It'll be people wanting to see both sides of a conversation no doubt.

Well they can do that by just clicking on your name, they don't need to follow you in order to see what you said.

Right enough, the celeb would have to have replied to me for it to show up. And the randoms appear to have stopped following me too. As has MTV UK. I dunno, weird.

They do if you're private but that's only if you've gotten a response back from the celebrity. Otherwise they're just following you for the hell of it.

i was pretty sure that you had to follow someone to see their comments, wasnt Chris talking about how random some of Phillip Schofields post were, because he couldnt see the other side of the conversation.. Thats where the "That's my hedge" thing came from.

you would have had to follow the person who asked if it was an upturned car to see what he asked Phillip.

Well, Twitter just came in handy. Thank God Chris just mentioned the iPlayer problems. I've been trying for 18 minutes to log on and listen to the show on the iPlayer and I CAN'T because it keeps asking for some effing password and user name from the BBC. This is fun.............

I started following the CMS people recently, but had to "unfollow" Matt Fincham because most of his messages were whining about how tough his job is and what a martyr to the cause he is. Overall I still question why on earth I'm doing it, but not closely enough to make me stop. Yet.

Ed, they just mentioned a little bit earlier on the show that Matt Fincham on Twitter is a fake.

Chris also just read my name out for turning my Twitter pic to a red square. I'm very excited!! :D
