The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Ah, I see - I wasn't aware there was a real and a fake, I just heard them say this morning that there was a fake Matt Fincham on Twitter. Sorry!!

Does anyone else not understand why Twitter is getting so popular? The novelty of seeing what celebrities are doing wears off, especially seeing as half of them only update it once a week with fairly boring updates. And I'm not that interested in seeing what friends are doing - and I got facebook updates for that.

What I like most about Twitter is the instant pickup on big events, e.g. the plane crash in Amsterdam yestersday. The very nature of the thing means that it usually gets the story up before any traditional media, like the world's biggest newswire. In fact at least one UK broadsheet has Twitterfall on their big screen in the office. Check it out - it has very nicely harnessed the potential of Twitter.

It's not all about stalking celebs and chatting with your mates. In fact if it was, I wouldn't be anywhere near it, same reason I'm not on Facebook.

Chris was even saying that Matt was asking him to be a follower.
Edit:
Real Matt Fincham: http://twitter.com/mattfincham
Fake Matt Fincham: http://twitter.com/MattFincham1FM

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought the one I was following was very lifelike for a fake. This also confirms that the whining and self-aggrandising also came from the real Matt Fincham. I sometimes get the feeling he thinks he's doing the show a favour by being there, but I may be way off the mark.

Oh wow! I didn't know that about Twitter - so where is the best place on Twitter to find out the latest news or is there no particular place on it to go?

The BBC have a breaking news page on there, I came across it the other day, think its called 'bbcbreaking'.

That's quite good actually. It was bbcbreaking as the username. They seem to get most of the news within half an hour of the event happening - although I don't know how fast it is compared to most normal ways of broadcasting news.

Put it this way, at least theres no ginormous BREAKING NEWS banner on there..ala Sky News, they are quite fast with their news. I don't see the advantages of 'twitnews', unless you like bitesize news. I mean, we can even get the history of the Universe squeezed into a text message today - I read this and I found it funny:

The best and most concise way of explaining the history of the Universe is: BANG! Dinosaurs, ice, monkeys, fire, wheel, electricity, Tv, twitter.

You can also go to their search page (link is at the bottom of the main one), and it has the current trending topics listed. For example Amsterdam was a trending topic the other day a good while before news of the crash even got to the BBC. As I said, Twitterfall(.com) also automates all this for you if you're really interested, pushing tweets on the trending topics. Also check out hashtags. I'm going to stop now as I'm even boring myself.

Yuds, I've noticed you slated some people before for trying to speak to celebrities, but now you do it as much too. Hypocrisy anyone?

I think I was slating the stated aim of some people to "be the first to get a reply from a celebrity". I haven't ever had that motivation. It would probably be pretty easy to come up with a legitimate accusation of hypocrisy to level at me, but this isn't one of them.

Hahaha.

"I just twoted!" Love it.

Also, I just tried to delete my account because Twitter is shite and pointless, and got this message;

Twitter's way of keeping you on such a shite site wrote:Twitter is stressing out a bit right now, so this feature is temporarily disabled.

Noooooooooo!
