The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I know he wasn't hosting today but I though he fitted in well, he obviously gets on with Dave really well.

Has anyone got any thoughts?

He'll need to liven up but I'm sure he will. He did sound like getting up early had been a big shock to the system today.

He didn't speak as much as I though he would have. Other than that he wasn't too bad. I guess what Yudster said about him livening up makes sense!

No sorry cant really stand Vernon, find him very annoying too put it mildly my real thoughts may cause offense! (same goes for Sara Cox but again will keep quite on that shes gone now and have not listen to weekends since Moyles left around 2001) I usually listen all the way from 6.30am till 10am (I listen at work on my walkman concealed when in at 7.30) but will get up later after 7am and just turn on the radio when Chris reports in, buts thats it, just call this next 6 working days a write off and back to normal week Tuesday.

You're clearly prejudiced against people from Bolton. Racist.

I like Veron Kay & never get the dislike for him (must be his accent I suppose).

I think he'll do well on the show, he may be a bit shaky on the first one but by the time his stint is over he will have fitted in very well. I do like his weekend show anyway, plus it makes a nice change from Mills to have someone different in there.

How long is he covering for BTW?

All this week and next Monday I believe, if the group gets back from Tanzania on schedule.

Thanks for the quick response :) I'm going to try & get a copy of all of these, should be interesting to listen back to in about 6 months time.

I've not really listened to Vernon much, so don't know what to expect. It'll be interesting to see how the show feels with the team but a replacement for Chris - I'm not sure that's ever been done before.

I think it happened once before although I can't remember for the life of me who it was. Anyone know? We are talking around 1999/2000 here so it could have been anyone.

Is Vernon any good as a presenter? I've never really listened to him much, just occasionally for a short while - I wonder how he'll fit in with the team.

Seems alright to me (what I've heard of him) certainly one of the better Radio 1 presenters.

I think he'll be good, I'm just glad the rest of the team are staying for the week. Vernon will respect what the show is and how it works which is good.

I'm disappointed that Chris will be on air between 9-10, i stop listening just before 9 when I arrive at work, so thats lots of listen again for me!

Vernon is great on the Radio, really excitable and and happy. Hopefully it wont be too much at 6.30 on the morning.

He did sound a bit bewildered by it all when he was in for a taster on Thursday, so you may get your wish.

To be honest I have an awful feeling he will do very well, so well in fact he maybe become a candidate to takeover full time whenever Moyles leaves, that for me is a nightmare scenario and for me will spell the end of me listening to radio 1, I dont listen on way home to Radio 1 and Scott Mills there is better and funnier on another BBC station hosted by another Candyman!

Cheer up sunshine!
I doubt the breakfast show will change hands any time soon. Especially as both Andy Parfitt and Ben Cooper seem to like Chris and the stuff he does.

Vernon won't be a candidate, he couldn't put in the amount of work that's needed what with the TV shows he does, having a wife that also does a lot of TV and a young daughter with another baby on the way. Hence why he now only does the 1 shift a week.

I'm just glad it's not Nihal.

Exactly, I think Moyles has another 2-3 years at least, unless Parf Daddy & Ben leave & the new controller doesn't like Moyles & forces him out.

BTW noticed by your Avatar that you're a McCoy fan :D

I keep forgetting that Andy Parfitt is going up Kilimanjaro. Not to be rude, but does anyone know why? Is he needed or is it just for the experience (and because he can because he owns the damn place).

I love Nihal! He's my second favourite DJ, after Chris of course. It's a shame you don't feel the same way.
