Hopefully a good 3 years plus!

I'am a Baker fan but do feel McCoy was better and under rated than people think especially his darker second year and would have been even better if the cancelled 27th season had been produced 8)

I don't know what it is, he doesn't annoy me as much as he used to, but I just find him boring sometimes. When he was on the breakfast slot over Christmas and I was still going to work, I would end up turning over or putting music on

Ah ok. McCoy is my least favourite of all 10 Docs (excluding the 11th one of course as he's yet to appear) but I still think he has his moments (Especially in Greatest Show In The Galaxy)

My top three are:

3. Colin Baker
2. Tom Baker
1. Patrick Troughton

Anyway back to Moyles...

Got to say so far........I'm not liking the show. I thought vernan would have been great.

It sounds like this is what BBC management would make Chris' show if they could. Vernan also sounds very scripted.

I think that the team could have done the show by themselves.......or dare i say it 'cheggers' could have done it - they then could have done role reversal on 'cheggers pop quiz'.

I think it's generally good. I like Vernon but he has to stop playing so much music! We're not hearing enough from the rest of the team but Vern himself is being quite entertaining. I think it probably shows how hard it is to chat on air more or less solidly for 3 and a half hours which is all the more kudos for Chris.

I like what I've heard since 7, but I agree about playing too much music.

There will be lots of music, its pre-recorded.

Vernon will be ok by the end of the week. he's a bit over excited - needs to learn when its ok to talk and shout over other people and when not to - until you hear someone getting that wrong, you don't realise how skilfully Chris manipulates the chat and threads the "serious" bits so seamlessly with the usual gossip.

Yeah, i agree. You do realise how good Chris really is. How 'slick' he is with the equipment and how much he can talk without boring listeners.

You also realise how much Radio 1 managment want to change his show to include more music.......I think there was way too much music today and people often complain that their isn't enough.

Err look at the time I posted that! It was the first time they spoke to Chris, not the pre-recorded bit that's on now! We got at least 5 mins earlier with no music so stop being picky the lot of you!

Well now it seems to be 30 second link, 2 songs, 30 second link, another song.

Yes, i understand they are up a mountain and he is probably shattered. Perhaps they should have only done 9.30-10am live from the mountain.

I now dont understand why they have come back to the studio, then back to pre-rec. It sounds rather stupid.

I'm so excited about the climb (yes, sad, I know) that they can do whatever they like, i'm going to like this week.

I know its not live, but i'm sure after climbing he is still going to be shattered. I still think they should have just done 9.30am-10am with less music.

Did you hear the handover? Jo Whiley is such a bitch! Her jealousy of Chris's popularity is really showing through.

I think I can top your sadness.. my password at work expired today and the first word that came to mind was 'Kilimanjaro'. It's alright, none of you are coming to my work any time soon.

There was quite a lot of internet chatter about how well Sara Cox did in her place as well. I expect she's feeling under a bit of pressure, and rightly so.

I had a feeling I wouldn't be the only one commenting on all the music! It makes me a bit nervous when they play so many records. Just seems to point to a lack of material. Also the prerecorded bit from the mountain bored me and I flipped to listening to my mp3 player. So I'm not sure how the next week and a bit are gonna go!

I had three very obvious indications I've been listening to Radio 1 far too much recently. Well, four if you count the fact that the other two were while I was climbing a mountain!

1. I'm getting delusions of grandeur. I'm contemplating copying Chris and doing the Kilimanjaro climb for charity. Probably for the wrong reason - ie. I want to do it rather than wanting to make serious money for a specific charity. There's no charity in particular I want to help (well, there might be but it varies), but I really fancy a serious challenge. Maybe next year, as this year's target is just to get enough time to go and do Ben Nevis.

2. All the way up Ben Lomond I had U2's Elevation stuck in my head. The Friday obsession with U2 obviously affecting me there.

3. My first thought when I got to the top was "ooh, must post this on twitter!" I didn't even bother about twitter until Chris and the team started on about it.

All that fresh air must have gone to my head.

Anyway, Veron... way too much music. It was very... new boy following the rules I thought.

When they did the live chat with Chris is was lovely to hear Rachel, from up a mountain in Africa, telling Vernon and Dave "Its time for the news!"

The brief 10-15 mins I heard sounded fine although I did notice the extra music.

Funny thing is, I know that people are complaining about the excessive music but up until about two years ago the links were alot shorter.

For example on editing an old 3 hour breakfast show (taking out Newsbeat & Ads as well) the show is whittled down to 1h 30mins or roughly there abouts. With the 2hr 45min Afternoon shows you get roughly 1hr 25 mins per show (but that's me keeping in all ads & all three Newsbeat bulletins).

It only seems to be when they extended the show that they got to speak longer.

Regarding BBC Management, I imagine Ben Cooper & Parf Daddy are fine with the chatter but I imagine the head of BBC Radio (as a whole) is probably the one that keeps trying to force them into playing more music.
