If that article is true I'd call it shrewd rather than tight. At least by tax avoidance he can then choose where and to whom he donates his money.

I agree with Yuds. Talking about who gives what and why is, sorry, just Vulgar.

You are the sort of people who would have dropped obviously hints to your divorced parents about how much the other one spent on you for your Birthday and Christmas arn't you ?

I also agree with Yudster, but I think for someone who plays the guilt trip on others, it's only fair that he, being in the privileged position that he is, should donate.

The thing that made me hate Bono was a couple of years ago when he sued some random woman over a pair of trousers that she swiped from their hotel room. Utterly unnecessary and hideously greedy.

You are welcome to that opinion, but you have no evidence what so ever as to how much he does donate, and should not know. I for one think it must be so hard for them, and especially Lewis Hamilton who had to try and show some moderation so as not to be seen to be showing off, and some generosity in the amount. The " I will double it pledge" made personally and discretely to Chris after the Press conference I felt displayed a matureness and sensibleness beyond the guys years.

Most of the people are normally earning through a Corporation of some description, which are very discrete ways of committing wealth to charity.

The fact that he can rattle a tin surely means that his conscience is clear on what he gives, and I will guarantee you this Toph, I bet it's a bigger % of his net disposable income than you give.

So without seeming to be rude, it really is none of yours, or any one else's business.

It's like when people ask you how much your earn, or what you paid for your house. The answer is simple, IT IS NONE OF YOUR * BUSINESS.

Good point Boboff, I stand corrected.

As for how much I give - I have very little disposable income, particularly at the moment, but I do try and give when I can to causes I care about.

Except the last bit, I really don't care who knows how much I earn or the rent I pay on my flat - but I do understand that a lot of people don't want others to know that sort of information.

Boboff - I hate talking about money in any form...when people ask me how much I earn from DJing I always say "not enough" for two reasons, firstly cos I don't want other people knowing about my business and secondly so no other bugger can come in and try to undercut me.

Same with all my financial dealings really. My missus on the other hand won't shut up about money she has no problem whatsoever with asking people how much they bought their house for, how much they spent on it etc...I have to constantly dig her in the ribs to get her to shut up about it. She blames it on when she was a recruitment consultant always asking about people's salaries but I blame it on her being a nosey bugger.

Haha my parents aren't divorced :) On a serious note, my original point was the speculative sum mentioned of £6k seemed a little conservative. I would imagine it to be significantly higher. Do I want to know how much he's donated? No. Do I really give a toss how much he's donated, if anything? No. Should I know how much he's donated? Most certainly not. I wouldn't expect anybody to know what I've donated, unless I freely give that information.

This might sound ridiculously OTT, but I've felt really proud to be a listener this week and making a small contribution to the massive total raised. Chris is doing a fantastic job - it looks like he may well make it now :D

2 hours 'till their final push to the summit.

I swear last time they only raised half a mil or so. It's phenomenal to think nearly £1M has been raised since last week alone. I remember the first day when they said they had about 4 thousand or so and I thought "This isn't going so well"

When I first heard about Chris doing this, I voted the "not a chance" option. But now I think he's going to do it, and I have a lot of respect for him and every other climber on Kilimanjaro right now.

Good on you Chris lad for silencing the critics! (shamefully, including me)

You're overstating what they did before actually:
Dave's biography wrote:Dave's highlights at Radio 1 include taking the Simon Mayo show off air in a moment that nearly ended his career, and travelling the country with Chappers to raise over £300,000 for Comic Relief.

The problem for subsequent years for them is going to be how the hell do they top this?

i dont think they can, ever. This is huge, what's a bigger challenge that Kilimanjaro that ordinary folk can participate in? There can't be much.

On a different note, it's 9pm, they are on their way to the summit :)

Topher. I meant the Rallyoke bobbie. Said it before but it was just short of half a mil so Moyles and mills split the difference between them. I'm certain that's what they did.

Direct from twitter (RedNoseClimb)

Chris 'the mountain man' Moyles gets there to, how good is that.about 1 hour ago from txt

He's made it!

Fantastic. As I write this it looks like Alesha is still to make it to the summit but that update was an hour ago. Hopefully they're all on their way down again now.

It's official! All 9 have now made it! Alesha soldiered on and just completed it. I am just so proud of all of them. The Twitter updates have been coming so well these last couple hours and I found myself desperate for the next one to see who had made it. I breathed a monumental sigh of relief when the Tweet about Chris's completion came through! My youngest son said the way I was gushing about all of them made it sound like they were my children, too. It's true! We've all been so attached to this outcome and it's just brilliant. I can't even imagine how they must be feeling! They're probably all so emotionally and physically overwhelmed right now!We are and we didn't climb the thing!

CONGRATULATIONS to Chris and all the climbers for a job VERY well done!

I've just read through the Twitter updates (I'd have stayed up to read them but I'm up early this morning to look after Joel). How much of a massive relief was that?! Fantastic for Alesha - to be in what was obviously agony and carry on is admirable.. well, they're all admirable. Particularly Alesha, Gary Barlow with his back and Chris for his sheer determination to prove the critics wrong. To think it wasn't the so-called 'easy' route either. I assume they're on their way down now? It said they can't stay there for very long.. I bet they got some mind blowing views in reward for their effort.
