So, Matt Fincham today took out a cello and started playing it in the live lounge. It sounded great on-air and the team reacted really well to it.

I wonder if Chris will make something of it when he comes back....I'd love to see chris try and play the Cello!

It was also nice hearing him play the closer music.....I sense a new but very short feature.

I think he said that he and some collegues from Radio 1 where starting to make a 'Radio 1 Quartet' or something geeky like that......

Yes, im not that niave. Im pretty sure it was planned but it was also a very good link and probably something Moyles will talk about for a little while. Especially if they do something in the live lounge on friday.

There should be a ban on sarcasm on these boards, its used far too much by people who believe they are in the 'inner circle'. I've never known a forum to be the same way as this one. I also wouldent say it was in a good way.

As a general point, I don't agree at all.

These days, the board is nowhere near as entertaining as it used to be and I think the reason is that people are too scared to say what they think and have a bit of banter. If someone is sarcy to you (I know Yudster wasn't this time, but if for for arguments sake if anyone is sarcastic to you), there's no point in worrying about offending people and walking on eggshells all the time, it makes for a very boring forum. Which is kind of what this place seems to be taking a step closer towards all the time at the moment.

Sneaky edit there in4308. Its is nonsense though - sarcasm is available to any with the wit to use it, whichever circle you or they may feel they belong in. It is grossly underused these days.

Some people dont understand everything that goes on behind the scenes in radio (Im sure many will exclude themselves from this, including myself) and therefore will sometimes act/state dumb things.

This wasn't the case in this thread, it was just something I believed could turn into something more on the show. Therefore i dont believe it required the sarcasm.

I don' think that's necessarily true, though if people are being unnecessarily silly, I believe it's only right that they're told. If I was being stupid (and people who have been posting here a while will know I do regularly make a tit of myself), I would expect to get 'jumped at' for it. It's all light-hearted, except for the very few who hold such stupid views that they're better off not here (search 'markool89' and you'll see what I mean.)

I don't know about sarcasm on here or anything, but I'd like to clear up that it wasn't planned or scripted (really!?). Matt is playing in a quartet of some sort and happened to have his cello in the office, after the gag about the cello players walking up Kili I asked him to bring it down to the studio for a joke. When Vernon references Litter Les again I asked him to burst in playing the kili music.

We never got to it as Vernon found it first, and off we went down an unexpected path with theme tunes and callers! I DO love this show sometimes.

I have recently joined a couple of other forums, and they are either really boring, or very very clicky.

One, which is run by two ladies ( It's about Quail if you are wondering) is awful. They move your threads, edit responses, keep emailing you telling you to wind your neck in, have 18 plus threads and chat rooms, which they have arbitrarily stopped anyone with less than 50 posts looking at or contributing too ( unless you become a forum supporter for a £5 donation) At least Chris just lets us get on with it, with a bit of a slap where required.

I think it's ok here, but interestingly we all had a say in people being booted, and all agreed when other people were banned. In hindsight you have to wonder whether it was for the greater good or not.

You are increasingly getting like Yudster with your arguments Boboff.. in that I find myself agreeing a lot. But I still think people are afraid of offending others too much.

I'm not sure that the people who got booted were people who added (deliberately) to the edge or the wit on this forum though. They were often the target of wrath, but there were reasons for that. The people who are missed for their higher-level contributions are people who left of their own accord in the main.

The frequency it happens tends to vary with the intelligence of the people you're having a debate with. I often find it happens more with some people (like folk on here) than it does with others.

The cello playing was very cool. Fincham's musical talent is a nice addition to the team and something different for the show.
