Matt Fincham is the Broadcast Assitant & has the same role that Joce, Aled, Lizzie, Melinda, Rachael, Comedy Dave (Apparently) & Jude had, so is relevant to the team.
The problem is that certain roles prominence have changed so much over the years that certain roles seem lesser than they used to, for example the line up in 2000 was:
Chris
Dave
Melinda
Rhys (Until October 2000)
Will (From October 2000)
Jon (Friday's Only)
In that line up Chris & Dave were also the "dominant" ones on air with Melinda being the third person Mondays-Thursdays & Jon on Fridays (Melinda usually appears of mic along with Rhys/Will, on Fridays, but the rest of the week only Rhys/Will would appear off mic).
The line up in 2001 was:
Chris
Dave
Lizzie
Will
Jon
Chris & Dave were the same as usual, however this time round Will was on Mic three, and when Jon was in at the same time Will seemed to be on a main mic at the same time, Lizzie however very rarely used to appear on a main mic, could usually be heard off mic or on an intercom mic.
The line up for the first Breakfast show in 2004:
Chris
Dave
Aled (Still BA at this point)
Racheal
Dominic
Juliette
At this point they had a dedicated Newsbeat team, however they were only ever heard during the news bulletins, other than that it was mainly Chris, Dave & Racheal, Aled is vocal throughout but not as much as the other three.
Fast forward onto today we have:
Chris
Dave
Racheal
Dominic
Carrie
Aled (Now Day Producer)
Matt (Current BA)
The first five are all heard on air in equal measures, Aled is heard frequently when his time starts, Matt Fincham (like Joce) appears on air infrequently (although more than Joce it seems).
Melinda seems to be the only BA (Appart from Racheal on Saturdays) to appear frequently on the third mic. The reason for this seems to be down to whichever producer was on the show at the time. Producer Ben was heard on air regulary, Producer Richard (who never spoke) was the "missing" third voice and so Melinda took on his role as the third voice, which continued once Rhys took over as he seemed to prefer only throwing in the odd quip rather than contribute on mic as frequently like Ben, Will & Racheal. The same happened on Saturday's, Racheal was heard alot on air as the producer was Richard (yes the one that never spoke on air) so she was the "third voice".
However seeing that there is at least five team members currently on air all the time (six if you include Aled after 9pm) & the BA, these days, doesn't get a chance of getting on air to speak, most of the time.
