The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

So I was listening to The Chris Moyles show this morning (Thursday) and I decided to text in for the girls aloud competition but I decided to text to the wrong number (81199) just for laugh because stupid people were doing it by accident yesterday with the Take That competition. So I was sat on the coach when Chris Moyles called my name out. You see I'm a 16 year old math and physics A level student however, as soon as Chris said my name I shouted to the whole bus and wouldn't shut up about it for the rest of the day. I was wondering if this is a common affect on people if they've ever had their name read out on air. Am I just strange? Also, I tend to scream like an 8 year old girl every time I play it back on the iplayer.

I take it you're a girl? Otherwise texting in for a Girls Aloud competition and screaming like an 8 year old girl is not acceptable behaviour for a 16 year old guy whatever the situation.

Well Greg read out my name when i texted him a support message on xmas morning, but i failed to scream like a girl. Or at all in fact.
But when Simon Mayo did the breakfast show, i rang in (mobile phones weren't two a penny back then) with a joke about estate agents (it was topical at the time) and he read it out on air. I made sure everyone knew about it for the rest of the day. That made me happy in a nerdy kind of way.

I used to know Mark and Lard thru work and they read my name on air fairly regularly ("Nicola Red from The Lowry" as they knew me), but I failed to scream. I may have grinned if that counts.

You've gone up in my estimation now, they are definitely Radio 1 legends, I'll have to see if any of the shows I have give you a mention :)

Haha. I had Marc's number in my phone for a bit cos i was sorting out some tickets for him, I was so impressed with myself! I think from memory it would have been around 2001/2 I would have been mentioned, but that doesn't narrow it down much :)

I did brag when Colin Murray read my story, but my mate didn't believe me so I fabricated some shite story to get my name read out again and it worked. So happy. Not for my name, but to get one over on my mate.

I remember telling quite a few people I had my question read out on Colin + Edith when they were interviewing Badly Drawn Boy, but again nobody believed me.*
I sometimes text in 6music for a laugh now and again - and quite often it gets read out because they don't have as many listeners as Radio 1. I think I got through on Adam & Jo and Jon Richardson.
Also I have been known to text Greg James if i've just got back from a heavy night out. I even remember drunkenly phoning up once, but I didn't get through. Thank God I didn't.

*The question was 'What did you spend your busking money on'? The answer was 'a packet of fags'. Fascinating.

6Music is actually quite a good station, one good thing about them having a less listeners is that they can get away with stuff you couldn't say on Radio 1 as it's not really a "kids" or "family" station, thankfully.
