I think this might be the case. He didn't seem to be flagging in his show and he was really getting in his stride.
Oh well, 6music for the win!

What's the reason for this? If it's due to his age then surely this is a ageist thing?

I discovered the delights of 6Music this week when I finally got a decent signal on my portable DAB :D

No adverts like XFM has, no awful playlist music, good DJ's....perfect!

Nice one! It's fast becoming my favourite station.
If I may be so bold as to recommend some shows on there, definitely listen to Adam & Joe, Jon Richardson and Steven Merchant.
Other good ones include Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour, Craig Charles' Funk and Soul Show (if that's your thing), Guy Garvey's Finest Hour and the Queens of Noize :D

Same here. Enjoy listening during the day, except for George Lamb. Irritating man and I can't stop thinking of Moyles' dalek-like impersonation of him haha.

Sad that Colin Murray's leaving. Night shifts won't be the same. :(

6 Music is great, my favourite on there is Jon Holmes, probably not to everyone's taste but I rather enjoy his show, along with Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show and Lauren Lavern.

Hopefully Chris will end up on 6 Music once his "time" comes, he could actually fit in on there (listen to Jon Holmes' show to get what I mean by that)

I think Cox and Whiley should go, Cox annoys me and Whiley is as someone said earlier a tad 'monotone'.

It would be a shame to see Chris go though for any reason, especially because he doesn't appeal to a "younger audience" because this just isn't the case. Yeah he's getting older, yes so is his audience. But I started listening to him when I was 15, I'm 17 now and still like to think I'm well within Radio 1's target audience. Sure some of the old TV show references n' shit I don't get, but they are usually few and far between and still make me laugh. Someone on the front page said that the younger audience won't get the Roy Walker thing, but again we do, even if it is for the wrong reasons.

My point is, the execs don't know jack and it would be a real shame if Chris got axed because of a reason that isn't the case at all.

That is the point I am making, I am in the target audience of Radio 1 and still like the "older" DJ's which rumour has, Radio 1 exec's want to axe.

Yes - it was your slightly strange use of the phrase "...still like to think...." that I was commenting on.

I am very definitely not in the target audience for Radio 1, so according to the statistical thinking of the bosses (if the rumours are true) I shouldn't like Greg James - but I do, I think he's doing very well. And I can't stand Jo Whiley, who's the oldest of them all. You know what they say, lies, damn lies and statistics.

Yeah, I have never understood the idea of "target audience" as being anything other than a rough guideline. I dont know why we need to put ages into it when it could just be seen as a station for younger people or people with a younger outlook on life/humour/music. Narrowing it down to 17-24 is ridiculous to me.

I'm 26 this year so I'll be way out of there demographic age group

Silly arses, I bet this all came about because of the results of the Radio 1 survey, late last year
