I never said I was - and had you asked, i would have said "No, you're right, I don't know actually". You however said that Radio 1 own the copyright. A statement which you have no basis for making, just like mine. The difference is you won't admit you a) might be wrong in your supposition and b) you shouldn't have made the statement. I'm happy to hold my hands up to both of those.

I feel like a dog with a bone today. Just ignore me, I'm in a mood and its not your fault. Sorry. I might ask Console to delete my self absorbed self pitying twaddle from the last few posts so as not to bore people too much.

Sorry I may be being dumb here but exactly WHAT music do they use in the advert that is in any way associated with Chris? Just re-watched the advert and I can hear nothing that in any way links to his show.

Its very subtle at the end. Its Chris' new theme. (http://www.music4.com/musicservices/cat ... hemes.html)

There is a short version of the advert too, it might only be in that version. I'm not sure. Looking at the long version on YouTube, that dosent have it in but the short version does. Thats not on YouTube, i dont think.

The only advert I can find on you Tube is 51s long and has a bunch of trumpets and stuff playing what sounds like any other trumpety type music, doesn't sound anything like the new jingles at all...

There is a 15/20s version that is going out on Channel 4 at the moment. They miss out the going through the streets of london bit.
Look out for it, no doubt it will be on-air tonight sometime.

But surely if it's the bit where he enter's the studio and ends up behind his desk it'll be the same shot? I think maybe it sounds the same...because it has trumpets in.

I'm sure its the theme aswell, it jst cuts off where you would usually hear the 'Ra-di-o 1' bit. Its so hard to descibe on here!! Its not what you hear on the 50 second ad as I've just listened to that.

Ok apologies for the double post - this is going to drive mad insane otherwise.

On the iplayer for yesterdays show, 37minutes in, the background music he's playing then, its that if not very similar.

i'm no copyright expert. But. Doesn't chris and music 4 jointly own all of chris' jingles.

Think about it. Music 4 composes the jingles. Sandy (i think that is the music 4 head person) is chris' friend. Is the one who sings the songs. And chris (and sometimes dave) writes the jingles. So in a way. Chris and music 4 own all the jingles too chris' show.

Now onto the show. I'm looking forward too seeing the show on sunday and i feel that a crossover of gingles. Maybe the music too rob dj's pub quiz will be used. I'm looking forward immenceally.

I think it depends. Because they will have been commisioned for Radio 1,The Chris Moyles Show. It also incorporates the Radio 1 logo which will no doubt already be copyright to Radio 1. Radio 1 will also be paying for them, not chris, so i'd have thought they'll belong to R1.

To be honest, nobody will really know or care bar us geeks. :)

Radio 1 will own all rights to the jingles, and Channel 4,or maybe even Chris' show producers, will have licensed it from R1 for this show.

As far as writers/composers go, they will all get PRS everytime it gets played, as will R1.

Thankyou, someone that finally understands what i'm saying, etc and agrees!

I'm not sure. It depends how Radio 1 got the jingles. If they have bought the jingles in a 'buyout' scheme then the composers will not get payed as they do not need to pay PRS. If they have bought them on a 'licenesing' scheme then yes they will. Buyout is more expensive but i'd have thought the BBC can easily afford to do this.

Nope, Chris will get PRS everytime one of his jingles is played on R1. I can almost guarantee it. I'm sure his publishers would have something to say if Chris wasn't getting paid, as they wouldn't be getting paid. I'm a member myself, so i know how these things work.

Also, i remember ages ago (i think it was in the Noel Gallagher interview) Chris said his PRS 'Circle' was all black, meaning every bit came from one place, - Radio 1.

Yes, i'm also a member. Have been for several years. But, it totally depends on the annoying contracts betweens stations and production companies and with little bitch wants part of the pie.

And...i've also lost the will to live.

The station and production companies have nothing to do with the writers, that's what i'm saying.

If somethng i had written got played on radio 1, my Publishing company would be chasing the money, as would Chris'

Of course, there's the chance i am completley wrong and 4 music do actually own the rights

Anyway, i'll stop now

Ha, I wasen't talking about the writers. I was talking about who owns what. The production company is the writer in most cases, especially in this case (Music4).

Anyway, i shall also stop. Has anybody managed to capture/get hold of the 20s commercial yet?

Actually Chris did say a while ago that while he is supposed to get paid PRS every time one of his jingles is played he doesn't. There was a piece in the paper ages ago about how "Chris Moyles supplements his £4Bn/month salary with PRS rights from the jingles he has written thereby taking more hard earned money from the impoverished British tax payer and while we're at it don't you just hate the gays, foreigners and this country is going to hell in a handbag because of them"

Well it said something like that anyway, so whether he was getting paid or Auntie decided to listen to the papers for once I don't know. I can kind of see their point though. He gets paid for something that he can play however many times he likes. It's not the amount that's at question but rather the ethics of it it being taxpayers money and all.

This is worse than the studio clocks thread that Scott Mills mentioned on early breakfast, back when he was funny.
