The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Wow. For a thread that started positively it sure descended into tedium.

Anyway, like everyone else, I'm looking forward to the show even though I fear I may be looking at it through my fingers and cringing. Even when I have seen Chris come over well (as in likeable) such as on This Morning the other week, he still comes across nervously and quite shy. Obviously shyness wont do when hosting his own show.

When he doesn't seem nervous he just behaves oddly like he did on The One Show. Everybody I know who saw that thought he came across as a pillock. On one hand I see the point that everyone wants to develop their career and TV is a logical step for Chris, but part of me thinks that he should see that his strength(and it is a massive strength) is being a truly brilliant DJ and he should just stick to that.

Time will tell and I hope his new show is a big success.

I agree with Mr Bickle in that on a three and a half hour radio show Chris can waffle on and talk about whatever he wants with no script, no guidance and can almost do as he pleases. TV isn't like that, it needs to be planned and scripted. While there is humour in listening to a guy go on about the fineries of CoD while sitting around in his pants on the radio, the same conversation wouldn't work on TV.

I still hope he does well though.

I don't think he came across that way at all. He's a little awkward on television only because it's not his medium and he's inherently a shy person. 'Pillock' seems a little harsh, don't you think? Is it possible, Travis, that most of the people you know don't like or 'get' him, which would lead them to judge him unfairly in the first place? Certainly if someone has a preconceived notion about how he'll behave they'll read into his every mannerism, saying, "I knew it all along, he's a smug pillock!" just so afterward they can sit back, feeling quite satisfied with their percipience.

You seem to acknowledge that it wasnt me, but my friends/colleagues who thought he was a pillock on The One Show, but you seem to be having a slight dig at me for it! 8O Maybe I'm wrong..

Anyway, I agree that people with pre-concieved ideas will look for whatver they can to back those opinions up but I do think that Chris needs to think seriously about how he comes over on TV. He has said on air that he is shy and not as confident off air as he is on it and for us that know what he is like we dont think any less of him for how he appears on TV, but people who dont give his radio show a chance and just see some of his appearences on TV can, through Chris' fault in my opinion, think he isnt a particularly nice bloke.

That isnt MY view though! I love Moyles and listen to him every day and most days listen to a lot of it again in the evenings. I totally get him and will always listen to him for as long as he is on radio.

I have uploaded the short ad to YouTube.
I recorded it on my mobile from the TV, so it is not the best of quality

I didn't see the appearance on the One Show so I have no idea if Chris appeared like a pillock on it or not. But if he did, or if he seemed uncomfortable, or out of place, do you think it might be because he finds the format of the One Show ridiculous (as he has discussed on his show many times), and didn't particularly relish being stuck in the middle of something where there were performance expectations of him which he couldn't fulfil because they were silly?

I say again I didn't see it, its just a thought though - he said many times that the One Show format of getting the guests to comment on the awful, trivial filmed features as though they give a shit was laughable and that he couldn't see himself conforming to such a stupid expectation. I imagine the regular watchers of the One Show found this disrespectful, whereas maybe he was just being honest?

Thanks for this - it has the Chris Moyles music at the end that I was going on about - and what started the whole music rights debate, sorry for that folks!

Jesus, if anyone watches the news tonight they need locking up. All Sky news are reporting today are 4 stories, repeated every 15 minutes. Jade's death - 12 minutes, Sydney Airport Attacks - 2 minutes, Google Street View 30 seconds, Bomb on plane - 30 seconds

Some gang related attack, one gang got off a plane, another gang were in the airport waiting for them. The gang waiting managed to kill one by beating the living hell out of him with metal pole's, right inside the airport

After hearing about Chris' past TV experiences (I was too young to watch them at the time) I went through the video vault and watched them. Seeing Chris on the show, he looks to be off to a good start and looks a lot more confident. The key always was to bring his radio personality to TV and it looks like he might succeed.

Anyway, back to watching...

Have I had too much to drink or did Barack Obama's stepmum just appear wishing his step-son 'good luck in the quiz'?

That was unexpected.

Its not brilliant, but its Channel 4. Its much more natural that Chris' other work.

Enjoying it a little, still not 100% sure but dont think I ever will be. It will be interesting to see the ratings when they're released tomorrow morning. I think it will be 2 million/2.5 million viewers.

I'm not sitting here laughing, but its nice to have on in the background, etc.

I love the f*ck off font they're using for the logo. It looks good.
