What do we think of this then? I've had a look on it & to be honest, I find it a little weird.

A lot of people who have seen it, that I know, say that it's "illegal", which, as far as I know it isn't.

Your thoughts please. :)

 No I hadn't seen it in there. It's interesting though as there seems to be a mixed reaction to this, there is a picture down my street of a motorbike copper speaking to a resident of my street (I won't link it as it'll let you know what street I live on) & I think it's a great idea for landmarks, etc. but there are people out there who are "stalkers" and although I don't have one there are probably people out there who do who are probably very unhappy about this.

I just think it's a little bit creepy, especially if someone you know who you don't want to know where you live can now see where you live, if that makes sense

Google Street view and its beta has been around for years in US its slowly progressing around the world, Microsoft's Virtual Earth offers 3D views Google is just taking it to the next level, the media in the UK have all leaped on a band wagon attacking it, its an advancement in technology, which I think is a fantastic idea.

I think Street View is appalling, but I wouldn't be amongst the people calling for it to be banned.

There was an interview on the BBC site the other day about how Google get sued every single day. That made me laugh.

Not just the newspapers, there's actually people in America that are trying to pass a law that says that all camera-phones must make a sound when they're taking pictures (so as to alert people to when a picture is being taken). People, in general, are morons, and there's far too many of them for all of them to work for newspapers.

Haha - the best bit about that is that it's called the 'Camera Phone Predator Alert Act'.

I also read about the same thing happening in Japan, because of the amount of people using them to take so-called upskirt shots. Apparently it's become quite a big problem, so I can see the logic behind them pushing it there.

Nevertheless I agree with the point that in general, that people are morons. What worries me is that I would therefore have to include myself in that. I'd hoped that avoiding the Daily Mail and not being a journalist would have saved me, but I don't think that's going to be enough to cut it 8O

I find it slightly disturbing that it hadn't even crossed my mind to do the upskirt thing with a camera phone until I read that. I thought I was quite imaginative too!

A local criminal's view of the service, according to one of the funniest websites I've seen in a while:

"This is outrageous. I suffer from an exceptionally rare condition whereby I am unable to plan crimes unless I use the internet to look at virtual representations of the banks I'm going to rob first. Street View was my only hope for commiting crimes without physically seeing my target or leaving my house...."

That last one - the horse at Royal Exchange Square in Glasgow always has a cone on his head

I saw a guy climb up it one night to replace the cone when he was drunky, he fell off the top and battered his head off the concrete.

Then I saw the ambulance come and take him away.
