People phoning in and saying "I bet on the National winner on Saturday on the website and I haven't got my winnings". No you didn't, we've checked the logs, you didn't even log in you lying tit.

Still, no harm in trying I suppose.

Here's an Obituary printed in the London Times.
Interesting, and sadly, rather true..

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

Knowing when to come in out of the rain;

Why the early bird gets the worm;

Life isn't always fair; and,

Maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers: I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

This is good Boboff, and has been for years and years and years! It was doing the rounds at least five years ago, probably more!

Exactly how do we go about NOT putting up with it? Surely all you can do is make sure that those principles underpin YOUR thinking, and your decisions, and the way you teach your children - beyond that, its not clear how you could have an influence.

What?! Better not send them to Glasgow then. "Hi, can you tell me how to get Colinshaws?"

The Sainsbury's thing has nothing to do with lack of common sense, they're just being a business and re-branding things in order to increase sales. In many ways that does make perfect common sense.

If you want to blame someone for that, blame the natural 'British reserve' that makes people embarrassed to buy it in the first place.

Colin is a better rename than Silverburn.

Oh, this is the thread I wanted after all - double post apologies...

The new Girls Aloud video. Admittedly, Untouchable was the song that leaped out at me when I heard the album and I'm glad it's going to be played on the radio now. But I've seen the video for it too now. Girls Aloud in Space with Barbarellaesque outfits.

I've had dreams like this video.

The Zane/Westwood countdown of the 30 'most hip hop people' is really good, if that's your thing.
Can't wait for the hour long Jaguar Skills mix later too :)

They are stunning. If they were big enough I'd have them as desktop wallpapers.

I was just thinking the same thing. They'd also be nice if they were put on canvas or something similar and put on a wall.

Funny, for a minute there Rusty, I thought you were agreeing with Munki about Girls Aloud.

Just seen Russell Brand's Twitter, he's had a pop at the Government and Ofcom, he reckons they spend all the money they fine people on porn.

"As president of Ofporn I fine them £150,000"
