Word to the wise, don't dis the Wogan! Foots may explode!

He/She/It didn't diss the Wogan, it dissed the Whiley.

I have no problem with Whiley dissing. Wogan is warm and cosy and... i'll stop now. He is, however, about as cutting edge as Betamax player in a Wimpy restaurant showing a made-for-tv movie.

Betamax VCR's were better than the VHS ones. One reason they never took was that the picture quality was so good (apparently) some manufacturers didn't like them at all (piracy reasons) and so steered away from them.

Shame really as they had a great picture quality & were smaller than VHS tapes

I'm not sure to be honest. I know several big Hollywood studios didn't like Betamax because of the great picture quality so they shyed away from releasing films on the format & went for VHS instead.

Gah. See if you change Betamax to VHS in my little statement above, does it make ANY difference to the meaning?!

Well, Kryten said that VHS tapes make a comeback in the near future as people of the early 21st Century kept loosing DVD's, 21 Billion or in total were lost so they reverted back to VHS tapes ;)

The Sun are a bunch of fannies, instead of having a go back in the English paper, have moved the story away from us and into the Scottish Sun where Chris wont see it. There's really old references here too, his 'war' with Nicola Roberts, which hasn't been mentioned on air once this year i dont think, him taking the piss out of people with speech impediments (which even i find funny),he likes the sound of his own voice, and of course, he's getting the boot blah blah. A nice, fresh story here from the clowns of the media world :D

Ouch :(

I started using l33t speak back in the day when Napster was around and some of it just kinda slipped into my vocab.

Sor-ry!

Anyway, of course he likes the sound of his own voice, he's on radio!

And anyway, most people like the sound of their own voices don't they?

Acutally, typically when people hear their voices recorded for the first time they hate it. It's only when they get familiar with the real sound of it (as opposed to the sound they always thought it was until they heard the recording), that they grow to like it.

Im starting to bore myself.

I cannot stand the sound of my voice, I really, really hate listening to myself... so what Ed said really, except I'm not sure I could ever get used to it.

Do you think Chris had permission from his bosses to talk about the Gordon Smart article on air or would he have got into a bit of trouble about it?

I think he would have been told by his bosses prior to going on air to watch what he said. I don't think there are many things he needs permission to talk about really.

I thought this would have been posted from the Mirror by now unless it's in another thread.

A year's no time at all though, and he's still got to sign.. :?

Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles has revealed he will sign a new deal – rubbishing rumours he is set for the axe.

Motormouth Chris, 35, is to agree a one-year contract extension to tie him to his breakfast show until July 2010.

And he scoffed at reports that colleague Scott Mills would replace him, declaring in typical fashion: “I’m not ready to come off and Radio One aren’t ready to take me off.

“Apart from anything, there’s no one else. I’m the best. Scott Mills would be all right – but he wouldn’t be as good as me.

“But it doesn’t make any difference because I am not going. I’m not leaving.”

The broadcaster’s remarks scuppered rumours that appeared in a downmarket rag last week claiming Scott, 35, would stand in for him this summer until a full-time host was found.

Chris, who has fronted the show since January 2004, told the Mirror: “My contract is coming up and it will be renewed. Make no bones about it. I love doing the show.

“I want to do another year and Radio 1 want me to do another year, so we will re-sign the contract and we will keep on going. I am happy.”

When the rumours about his departure emerged, station chief Andy Parfitt phoned him to reassure him they were false. Chris revealed: “We had a coffee and laughed about it.”

And he joked: “I think the story was planted by the BBC contracts department.

“I wanted to go and haggle for more money but now I have to say, ‘Of course, I am staying, I’m not going anywhere’.
