So........
*Deep breath*
I am currently 14 stone. I would like to get down to 10 stone by Christmas (hell I'd like to get down to 8 stone but I'm being realistic)
I know I can start exercising more - in fact I started yesterday - but it has to be done in the privacy of my own home to start off with cos I daren't go out running etc until I have lost at least some off my chest and stomach.
I know if I cut out the booze I will lose more weight - although contrary to popular belief I don't drink that often.
My main problem is that I lose the impetus and get lazy/stop caring after a little while so I thought if you lot could help by encouraging/bullying/reminding me a bit on a daily/weekly basis I might actually stick at it.
I'll try not to turn it into a blog I promise and if it annoys too many people then I'll stop posting in it, I just need some help.
So I guess my question is - will you help/bully/encourage me?
(I am aware that I will get abuse from many people for this thread by the way but I'll take it)
I'm not giving you a lecture, ignore me if you want but here is my advice:
Weight Loss TargetsSet yourself mini goals in terms of weight loss, your 14 stone right now, setting a realistic target of say losing 2lbs a week, if you can stick to losing 2lbs a week for the next 7 weeks you will be down a stone. Granted your initial weight loss will be greater in the first couple of weeks if you lose more than 2lbs a week all the better, your weight loss will eventually plateau and you will need to work that little bit harder but losing 2lbs a week is still manageable.
MealsEating breakfast is very important, you need something to kick start you metabolism each morning, even if your in a rush out the door grab an apple or some fruit just make sure each morning you have a breakfast. Don't skip on meals you might think your doing good by skipping meals but in fact your not, your body's metabolism will start to slow down and decrease (Google starvation mode) This might sound stupid but don't go to the super market on a empty stomach you will end up buying all the wrong food or maybe that's just me.
Daily RoutineYou need to commit to exercise, walking is definitely the best for weight loss, you don't have to break out running straight away, if you can manage three walking sessions a week, don't over do it remember were being realistic here, for the first fortnight try 20 minutes then increase your sessions up to 30 minute, 40 minute sessions and so on. Think of your walking sessions as part of your day YOU HAVE TO DO IT, does not matter if its raining snowing outside go for your walk you will feel good after you have done your daily walking sessions. The more you exercise the more you committed you will become to it, the endorphins and feel good factor will kick in. The summer is slowly starting you have the bright mornings and bright evenings so pop on your iPod and go walking.
Well that's all my advice I have for now, Yes you will fall off the wagon here and there but you gotta get back onto it when you do, for the record I'm 6ft 4 and just under 13 stone my weight is mostly made up of muscle now, I used to weigh a hell of a lot more over 21 stone! I started started eating healthy, set my goals and lost my weight and most importantly kept it off, I started indoor Rock climbing when I came to New York going to rock climbing gyms, might sound a bit weird but its a brilliant form of exercise im going on my first "Serious" outdoor climb to Yellow Stone this summer.
Best of luck with your weight loss!
Danny over and out.
