Can we all just accept thatthere will come a day when Chris will leave breakfast. It wont be the end of the world. He'll get another job on another radio station,or maybe a different slot on radio one.Personally I woulkd rather he did afternoons because I cant listen much at breakfats time anyway. If Chris really said 'theres noone as good as me' then he must have been joking.Nobody in their right mind would ever say that.Theres always someone talented about to come along to replace you.

Yes of course, but what's the point of speculating about something that only Chris could possibly comment on with any authority?

I expect he had his tongue very firmly in his cheek - but it is true at the moment. Yes, someone will always come along, but at the moment, they haven't. So until they do, its a perfectly valid comment.

Moyles’ future not assured

Apr 27, 2009 - Radio 1 deputy controller Ben Cooper has praised breakfast host Chris Moyles - but has refused to confirm whether he will still be presenting the show in a year's time.

Speaking at the Radio Reborn conference in London today, Cooper was asked about the Sun newspaper's claims that Moyles's contract would not be renewed.

"I'm always looking at the schedule, looking at changes. Pretty much every year there's tweaks and changes," he told delegates. "I'm always going to think about how to improve it."

Meanwhile, veteran broadcaster Paul Gambaccini, who was also at the conference, renewed his criticism of Moyles, who was reprimanded by Ofcom last month for broadcasting a parody song about pop star Will Young's sexuality.

Asked about Moyles's controversial comments, Gambaccini said: "There have been some disturbing statistics about bullying in schools. Young lads who were taunted at school for being gay. Moyles keeps on encouraging bullies, causing human suffering."

He added: "Chris is told to fill three and a half hours at a time when we don't have a lot of good new records. All the factors really are working against an artist who engages in what I call blog radio. You just open the mic."

Gambaccini really has a chip on his shoulder doesn't he. Moyles encourages bullying... NO HE * DOESN'T. Why don't these * parents take responsibility for their nasty little * instead of blaming others for their problems :x :x :x

Rant over

Because we live in a culture of blame - everything is someone ELSE'S responsibility. We aren't allowed to say that anything anyone does (short of obvious lawbreaking) is wrong. We are supportive of choice - and even when those choices are incredibly destructive to the individual and others, we aren't allowed to criticise because we are a tolerant society aren't we?

Trust me the way some of these kids behave, if they were one of mine, they'd be going to boot camp or the like. Banging on windows, threating someone with a belt because he looked at them in a funny way when there's elderly people on the bus, that's not way to behave.

Mayo was sticking up for chris and saying he would be on simons show early next week

I'm struggling here, can someone help me? Is this post saying that Chris Moyles will appear on Simon Mayo's show early next week?

Yeah, I just heard that bit of the show and Mayo said that there was a good chance Chris will be on his show early next week.

I think the lady from the Sun was clutching at straws there. They know they've mucked up and create quotes from nameless 'sources' for this reason - so that they can simply deny the backlash when it comes (by use of 'more accurate' sources than the BBC itself).
Also, her argument that went along the lines of 'Chris should be able to take what he gives' is such bullshit. Chris can take his level of banter, but has no need to take it on the chin when the front page of one of Britain's biggest papers is making up lies about his career. Who honestly would?

I asked Simon Mayo about this on Twitter, and as his account is very new and he only has about 600 followers at the moment, I managed to get a reply back from him. Unfortunately it doesn't look like Chris will be on his show this week after all:

all gone quiet on the Moyles front but he's welcome anytime. This ones all down to Ch4 really.

Damn, I was looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll still happen at a later date.

Thanks for that Latina! Welcome aboard :)
I hope Chris does take up the offer, but I imagine he's said everything he wanted to on his own show.

Thanks for the welcome! I've properly introduced myself in the appropriate thread now. This Twitter thing gave me the push I needed to finally sign up, but I am hoping to stick around. :)

Edit: I agree that Chris doesn't really need to defend himself now, and it would maybe seem a bit pointless now that the "war" has died down (for now) quickly. It would still be good to hear him on Simon's show though. They were great together during the anniversary week.
