Chris has gone on about this constantly, On This morning, at the big weekend, on-air and on anything else he could, and therefore people need to stop believing everything the press keep writing.

He is signing a 1 year deal to present his radio show, after that - who knows? He may finish he may carry on, only time will tell.

Ok.It's fine to say 'don't believe all you read", but there is, I think you'll agree, a marked difference between The Scum and The Times.

I just get a feeling people don't believe he will ever leave.

Surely you know how the media operates? They bludgeon a story/topic to death, squeezing every last bit of profitability out of it, then move on to the next flavour of the week.

The media is notoriously fickle. I actually remember reading a story a few years back about a woman who was found in Africa who had had unprotected sex with hundreds of HIV positive men, but she didn't contract it. Scientists thought she could be immune to HIV and were going to perform some tests.

Didn't hear anything about it after that. The media ran with the story, then dumped it when something else came along, like the latest reality TV winner.

Seems entirely believable to me. Moyles wants to break the breakfast show record and put a bit of distance between him and the rest. He will then want to bow out on top and not with ratings tumbling and listeners calling for his head.

There is no way he would do another four years on breakfast so to leave next year sounds about right to me.

Chris won't be on R1 forever, as pointed out, but i'm sure dedicated fans will follow him to another genre... true, he will leave big boots to fill on the R1 breakfast show, but nowt lasts forever. Fingers crossed he'll be on R1 for a while yet.....

As heard from the mouth of Mark Goodier himself, he was only asked to fill in for a couple of months as Steve Wright didn't want to take over from long-serving and successful Simon Mayo straight off.

Wogan did a 12-year stint at Breakfast on Radio 2 from 1972-84 and this time he's been on since Jan 1993 so he's not far off CT's 17 years.

I thought he did longer than that, I think he left suddenly though due to a certain Mr Bannister. Then again I though Evans was on Radio 1 for longer.

That list shows how many Chris missed out on the opening song from his first ever Breakfast Show (I think he mentions Blackburn, Edmonds, DLT, Mayo, Zoe & Sara but misses out Mike Reid who was one of the longest serving Breakfast Show DJ's)
