There is no way he would do another four years on breakfast so to leave next year sounds about right to me.
Funny thing is, is that alot of the Radio 1 breakfast DJ's don't last that long on air anyway
From Wikipedia (those in Green lasted over five years, those in Red lasted less than a 2 years)
Tony Blackburn from September 1967 until June 1973 (5 years 9 months) Noel Edmonds from June 1973 until April 1978 (4 years 10 months)
Dave Lee Travis from May 1978 until December 1980 (2 years 7 months)
Mike Read from January 1981 April 1986 (5 years 3 months)Mike Smith from May 1986 until May 1988 (2 years)
Simon Mayo from May 1988 until September 1993 (5 years 4 months) Mark Goodier from October 1993 until December 1993 (2 months) Steve Wright from January 1994 until April 1995 (15 months) Chris Evans from April 1995 until January 1997 (1 year 9 months) Mark and Lard from February 1997 until October 1997 (8 months) Kevin Greening & Zoe Ball from October 1997 until September 1998 (11 months) Zoe Ball from September 1998 until March 2000 (18 months) Sara Cox from April 2000 until December 2003 (3 years 8 months)
Chris Moyles from January 2004 until present (5 years 5 months and counting) Interesting thing is that since Simon Mayo they haven't had a breakfast show DJ last 2 years until Moyles became host (Coxy was the longest in between Moyles & Mayo with Goodier notching up two months only.)
Regarding him being unlikely to do the Breakfast Show for a further four years, who knows, I imagine Capital FM didn't think Chris Tarrant would host the Capital FM Breakfast Show from 1987-2004 but he did (is that a record for a Breakfast Show?)
