Why did they get bumped from Virgin? They are very good.

Virgin has a habit of getting rid of DJ's rather quickly, noticable examples (between Mid 2001-Early 2002) include:

Steve Penk (Replaced Pete & Geoff but didn't do well enough in his first quarter so got axed & then replaced by Darrel Denham)
Darrel Denham (Replaced Steve Penk but then got replaced by Pete & Geoff, makes you wonder why they bothered taking Pete & Geoff off Breakfast in the first place)
Jon Holmes (To be fair he got sacked for getting Virgin Radio a massive fine, of which he was hired to "push the boundaries of Radio)
Mark Fox (Who was as mad as a box of frogs, was on from 1am-4am & yet was got rid of for "polarising the audience", how the * can you polarise a bunch of insomniacs & drunks? He was great but Management obviously thought not)
Jezza (Who was actually Jeremy Kyle, but although Mark Fox & Jon Holmes talked about his arrival, it seems that because his start date kept being pushed back so he sodded off to Capital FM and, as far as I can recall never got on air on Virgin)

Management was weird at Virgin Radio between 2001-2002, they got a wide range of different presenters, they were fairly popular & then a management change resulted in most of them being got rid of as soon as they were hired.

Jeremy Kyle was on Virgin for quite a while, Jezza's Virgin confessions. He was ok and quite listenable, it was before his TV work took off and his radio show was like the tv show, without all the 'naffness' and chavs. Think he left due to filming commitmets.

Yes, it changed to Absolute Radio and I think they didn't fit with the new style station and by mutual agreement, they left.

DannyBoy wrote:Yup JK And Joel were good, does that radio station have a listen again ?

No, don't think so. They may upload some of the shows when the week is over though but wouldn't count on it.

They are a good listen but not for too long I find. I'm not convinced they are live each night and in manchester.

Mcdonald & Mcguire (who did the show), one has been sacked and the other has been moved because they killed the audience figures...It will be interesting to see who the replacement is next week.

Whos? JK & Joels or M&Ms?

JK & Joel do other stuff outside of Radio, its probably not what they would like to be doing but its better than nothing.

Oh was he? I never heard him on there, all I seem to remember is Mark Fox kept going on about Jezza joining & then Jon Holmes saying he had buggered off suddenly (I think it was when he had to do a "double shift" on Virgin Radio one night & ended up being on air from 10pm until 4am 8O and I seem to remember him saying that Jezza should have turned up but had probably buggered off to Capital FM). Whether he was joking or not at the time I do seem to remember Jezza on Capital FM.

Hang about, wonky to the rescue:

In 2000, Kyle moved to the Century FM network, taking this format with him. The show was called Jezza's Confessions. It broadcast between 9pm and 1am. He won a Sony Award for Late & Live in 2001.[1] On 1 July 2002, he made his first broadcast on Virgin Radio, presenting Jezza's Virgin Confessions every weekday 8pm - Midnight. In mid 2003 he broadcast the show from 9pm - 1am every weekday and, in January 2004, the show went out 10pm - 1am Sunday - Thursday. The beginning of June 2004 saw his departure from Virgin Radio.

In July 2004, Capital Radio announced it had signed Kyle to present the Confessions show on London's Capital FM from September 5, 2004. The new programme aired from Sunday to Thursday 10pm - 1am including live calls on relationship issues of all kinds. Capital Confessions came to an end on December 22, 2005, to make way for The Jeremy Kyle Show, a similar show which ran from January 2006 to December 2006, at which point Kyle left radio altogether.

Ah so it seems that his start date kept being "pushed back" which may explain Mark Fox's & Jon Holmes' comments about him, they had both left Virgin Radio by the time he actually got on air.

i remmeber years ago when jk & joel did breakfast on key 103 manchester, they was actually pretty good.
think in a way there biggest mistake was moving to radio1 even if it is most peoples ambition in terms of radio to get national & on radio 1.

if i remmeber right i think 1 of em left to go to radio1 and the other ad 2 stay there and serve the remainder of the contract

That is probably one of the worst constructed posts I've seen on here and that is saying something. I thought 'remmeber' was probably a typo, but you actually did it twice. Do you say 'remmeber', instead of 'remember'? If so, you're a retard. Actually.. you already seem like a retard.

I have read (with difficulty) a couple of posts by Ian_k and whilst I agree that the evidence of literacey is minimal, the content (if you can scrape your way to it) doesn't seem retarded to me. Once I managed to find it, I thought he made a good point here about the legitimacy of the view that Radio 1 is an automatic target for young broadcasters.

I started reading it and then gave up because I couldn't be arsed deciphering it. Which is exactly why people who want their point to be read should make the effort to write it properly - and not, as this poster has done on another thread, pretend there's nothing wrong with it when people pick them up on it.

Oh you're right, I just think he's lazy and stupid rather than retarded.

I'd like to draw your attention, Ian_K, to the forum rules, which state:
No 'txt speak' - please use proper English (this includes the prohibition of the phrases 'lol', 'end of' and 'Fact.')

Believe it or not, 'omfg' constitutes text speak.

Oh... and it's 'their' soapbox. Are you still tired?

Infact mate omfg is more forum speak as opposed to txt speak, although it may be used in txts.
i go on quite a few forums and is never really been much of an issue on there.
people will use abbreviated terms for ease of use and to speed things up.

It's also incredibly annoying and makes you sound thick. Which you may or may not be.
